So much wrong with this.
In round 2?
Becoming the country’s team has to happen organically. Can’t be anointed by the sports channel.
Certainly can’t be looking for it as a team, that would be needy
Ugh. I don’t even mind the players compared to previous incarnations but now I can’t wait for them to be eliminated

Do people expect the Kraken to immediately come out as a cup contender?

yea this bugs me too, that expansion draft isn't even that long ago so I clearly still remember the general consensus was that we were looking at a lottery team with no real star power. some even suggested they had assembled a less than optimal squad to enter the Fallin' for Dahlin sweepstakes.
what they ended up doing instead is breaking the old school notion that you need to be structured as star line / secondary scoring line / energy line / facepunch line. it was a mad science experiment that ended up with amazing results, and if fans of other teams have to be mad about something, it's that their own management hasn't reacted fast enough to emulate that model.

I don't disagree with some of this, and it definitely applies to their inaugural season, but due to circumstances both related and (not directly) related to the initial draft and their year one success, they certainly have star players now. Stone for sure and I would think Pacioretty qualifies. Now I get what you are saying that their team structure is deep and balanced, but at this point they have a pretty nice group of top forwards . there is nothing expansion team about them anymore

I have never seen a team get so much credit for being outplayed and losing
Only lost by 2! Great effort, only been shutout in half the games!

All season I have thought that the 2019–20 Canucks look an awful lot like the 2014–15 Flames: young, plucky, well coached and extremely fortuitous. The playoffs have not done much to change affect this opinion. Much like the Flames, they now find themselves following a gutsy round one win in a brutal mismatch with a Division powerhouse, and on the brink of elimination heading into Game 5.
We'll see how it goes for them next game, next season and beyond. But so far, this is a story with which I am quite familiar.

Like a recurring nightmare I just keep happening. Even when they lose this, you're going to get an entire off-season of "The Canucks young players proved they were gamers and absolutely lit up the play-offs. Future is bright man, future is bright! How did Monahan and Gaudreau do in the play-offs? I wasn't watching." as the 10th thread in two weeks about trading one of the two gets posted.
I love you all. Never forget that.

2014-2015 Flames were known for their love of others? I didn't know that. They certainly weren't known for their goalie =-o

On a scale from 1 - 10, how broken as a man will you be when Markstrom re-signs for under 6? It feels like this is what you're clinging too and I am a bit worried about you when it doesn't happen. Because I care about you. You matter.

Wait, do you actually think he's going to re-sign for under 6? I just want to be clear here. That's what you're predicting?

Its the guy who had a hot date in the first minute of the third period last night lol...under six? good luck, maybe on a 8 year deal. He makes what 3.6 now and is the team MVP. I also question market loyalty this off season considering teams likely won't be playing in their cities anyway. If he wanted to sign for 5M it would have been done already.

I actually think it's going to be closer to 6.5.

Mother, the hot date was Saturday. I told you that! Last night I was playing warhammer like a nerd! Felt less bad about being on my phone with my friends vs a girl.
I expect he will get term and a NMC to protect him in the expansion draft, because he doesn't want to leave. I also expect he will leave money on the table because Swedes always leave money on the table. Which is why I am also not worried about Pettersson's second contract.

I have to defend Blaster here. There is no obligation to post, especially after a loss. If you aren't going to get any positive entertainment value out of it, why bother. Nothing good usually comes from posting on a rival fan's board if you aren't in the right frame of mind.
Heck, I usually wait a while before posting on here after a Flames loss.

lol there were a few Canuck fans posting in the 2nd period and then Houdini for the third (I'm gonna call it out every single time)
WTF has happened to sports you can't even break the balls of your rivals anymore? why don't we just all get together for orange slices and call every game a tie
You are suggesting that people only post when they can brag? And location checks out

I'm fine with that. Eliminated defending champs, that's a great feather in a young team's cap. Hell, eliminated them so good their Captain is going to leave!
