DeBoer's gamble tonight pays off sneaking a win and resting his starter at the same time. If Markstrom is really fatigued, it's only going to get worse while the guy at the other end will come in rested.

It'd be really funny if the Islanders won the whole thing.

They looked good in the round robin though, and in the same way. They just had overwhelming offense that was constantly flowing along with being big and fast.

At this point Philly and the Islanders are about the only two teams I have no grudges against. I actually like Philly but that's not looking good. Would rather NYI win than Vegas, Dallas, Tampa Bay...

If the Islanders were to win with Tavares watching at home I would find that hysterical.

I think I like Markstrom. Annoying reporter asks him if he he’d like some of the goals back, said he looked tired and how was he feeling. Markstrom response: ‘ I felt great and there are about five goals I’d like back’. Awkward silence follows that. Well said. F’ing reporters.

I don't recall a lot of people thinking Vegas were going to be a good team before their first season started. Most thought they would suck. Even two months in I think a lot of people were still expecting them to drop off. Nobody predicted cup finalists.
Looking back now to blame the league for what seemed like a fair process at the time just comes across as being salty.
Do people expect the Kraken to immediately come out as a cup contender?

I blame the GMs who allowed the same guy who traded Forsberg for Erat to take advantage of them.

No doubt Tavares living in Toronto, leaving the Toronto bubble while his old team he quasi betrayed stays in the Toronto bubble and continues great success on the very ice surface Tavares left for to call his home is highly hilarious to me.

He's the 7th D. At 38 this is probably his last year before retirement unless he wants to leave Vegas for a job.

Engelland was an extremely late bloomer, so unfortunately he didn't get many prime years in the NHL

Credit to Vegas for collecting picks/prospects and turning them into Stone and Pacioretty, but a few teams did some serious overthinking and really helped the Knights. I would hope GM's learn from the past mistakes when it comes to the Seattle draft.
Buffalo gave them a 6th for selecting Carrier
Florida gave them a 4th and Rielly Smith for selecting Marchessault (so Florida could protect Petrovic...yikes)
Hurricanes gave them a 5th for selecting Brickley
Winniped traded down from 13th to 24th for selecting Thorburn
Tampa have them Gusev and a 2nd for selecting Garrison
NYI gave them a 1st and a 2nd for taking some cap and selecting JF Berube
Anaheim gave them Shea Theodore for selecting Stoner (big yikes)
Wild gave them Tuch for selecting Haula
Columbus traded them their 1st for selecting Karlsson and taking on the Clarkson cap
Pitts gave them a second for taking Fleury.
Big yikes to Anaheim, Minny, and Florida.

I predicted Vegas would have less than 20 wins their first season.
NAILED IT!

LOL I think it was proven in 2011 that the Canucks will never be Canada's team. Sure they are less hateable now but they are still the Canucks and their fans still riot in the streets.
