He was all over the ice in OT at both ends - as he always is - and again all you did was come here to complain he "almost" gave the puck away in the face of his brilliant play to end the game. It was a weak attempt at force-manufacturing criticism.
It's honestly boring that you have nothing better to do that react this way because you're upset at all the attention he got.

If CAN and NA don't even play in this tournament, it will be a massive disappointment.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but take it as a friendly moderator's suggestion to improve the overall quality of the site:
If NA makes it through, can we focus on the game and cut down on the McDavid crap for goodness sakes?
I watched the same game without being in this thread, and I thought McDavid was easily a top 5 player in the game for both teams. Johnny was by-and-far the best, but catching up on this thread after the fact, you would have thought McDavid was Daigle. But he created a ton, easily outskated most of the best team D in the tourney and was called on an atrocious penalty late; he's not pulling a Jack Eichel, who has been the worst player out there.
Yes, I get the hype is overbearing, but like Jim Rome says, if you aren't making the [site] better, you're making it worse. If a moderator doesn't want to log in and participate in a thread, what about your average fan who just enjoys the game? (which I like to think is the majority of people who have ever registered for the site.) The NA team has been crazy fun to watch.
Don't just look for reasons to complain. Enjoy it. Don't let your McDavid pettiness overshadow your enjoyment of what Johnny is doing. It's so much fun. Enjoy that he's getting his due - he's not getting slighted. It's a great time to be a fan.
XM NHL was effusive after the game. Twitter was lit. I haven't heard a negative against Johnny this week, so let's not invent stuff that isn't there and try to keep a high quality to the hockey discussion.
There's an Oilers thread, go whine there if you want to pick apart McDavid ad nauseam.

Ugh that's deflating knowing Fins have to beat Russia.
Good luck with that.

I would agree with Oil Stain that Gaudreau didn't do much to break up anything Sedin did. He got a clear chance on net and Gibson made a dynamite save. That said, JG did bust all the way back, join the counter attack and get a good chance, then beat a very lackadaisical looking Sedin to the rebound, and made a ridiculous pass for the OT goal.
He did everything else, break up Sedin's first chance, he did not.

MRC thank you for your post. It is tiring reading the constant McDavid bashing in here. I think it should be isolated to the thread that seems to exist for that purpose. If you can't appreciate the kid is a great hockey player, well whatever.
Johnny played like Johnny. Yeah he turns it over sometimes and he's not the soundest defesively but holy cow, the puck is on his stick alot and he makes great plays regularly.
Hard to believe the NA team beats Finaland and Sweden, barely loses to Russia and right now its likely they don't advance. Because I am dying to know if Canada would manhandle these kids or not. Right now, that is the most compelling question to be answered in this tournamnet.
To all the naysayers who aren't tuning in because "gimmicky". You are missing out big time.

I was all ready to say McDavid was playing his best game and was the best player in the game about 3-4 minutes in. But I really didn't think he was great after that. Like others said, lots of speed, but not a whole lot of awareness.

I don't want to start a pissing contest, but does anyone know if the game is being shown again tonight on sportsnet or if it can be watched at NHL.com?

Based on who he threw out towards the end of the game I'm not sure the coaches knew.

Was at the game (well both games with slow drinking so take this with a grain of salt), and McDavid looked amazing. He will be the biggest thorn in our side since He-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named99
Also saw the best hockey out of the the Nuge that I've seen.
North America was not good at defense (the level of stick work and positioning of Sweden and Canada was solid), or even holding the zone - but when they are on the rush they were incredible.

North America vs Sweden - 1 pm - Sportsnet
Also - it is a TOTAL FAIL that the coaching staff didn't let them know they needed to win in regulation.
(I didn't know)
