That is a rule every ref should know. Not a case of the rule book being too big. I am surprised Gruden didn't notice. He usually knows all the details. I had questions when it happened - SEA didn't control the ball, so who gets possession?

Other crazy goal-line plays:

STL vs. TEN Superbowl - TEN stopped at the one yard line with time elapsing

DAL vs. SEA playoffs - Romo fumbles the snap

SEA vs. NE Superbowl - Butler intercepts ball

http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nf...awks/73426660/

In 2010, the Calvin Johnson Rule entered American vernacular after Johnson was ruled to have not completed the process of a catch on a would-be game-winning touchdown against the Chicago Bears.

No they aren't, they all hold other jobs that occupy their time outside of August-February.

Some are named partners at their own law firm (Ed Hochuli) and others are NCAA basketball referees (Gene Steratore).

I don't think it's a ref issue, all turnovers are reviewed. The review guys in New York didn't even know the rule.

Greg Hardy, horrible human being

Quote:
Asked if he intended to speak out against domestic violence or involve himself with a local shelter, Hardy instead talked about sticking to the “game plan." He said he is excited that his return to the game happens to come the week the Cowboys play the New England Patriots.

“I love seeing Tom Brady, he’s cool as crap,” Hardy said. “Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game. One of my favorite games of the year, guys.”

Asked what he would say to those who feel he should not be on the team because he was found guilty by a judge of domestic violence, Hardy replied, “God bless you. That’s the message.”

What he learned most about himself through the ordeal, Hardy said, was that he’s a “really good pass rusher when I put my mind to it.” His central concerns now, he said, are winning and getting sacks, adding that, “I’m really good at that.”

This is as good a time as any to mention that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell actually gave Hardy a 10-game suspension for this season, but Hardy and the NFL Players Association fought Goodell and eventually were able to get the suspension reduced to four games. Perhaps the thinking was that Hardy had learned his lesson.

Ten games sounds pretty good now, doesn’t it? Or, how about the rest of his career?

There’s even more from Hardy’s meeting with the press. A reporter mentioned that he was sure the wife of Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles was attractive as well. (I actually remember the days when reporters didn’t ask about the appearance of players’ wives, but games and strategy and things like that.)

“Is she?” Hardy asked. “This kind of information is important. That’s how I select my Pro Bowls.”

Obviously the perfect Cowboy as well, a total lowlife.

And he comes back in the month where the NFL pretends to care about women. Well done Goodell.

Hardy gets a pass in the media because there is no video of his assault.

Rice speaks out against violence, does volunteer work now and is still a pariah.

Ray Rice plays the wrong position too. Running backs are easy to find, his replacement (Forsett) came off the street to end up top 5 in rushing last year after Rice averaged 3 yards per carry the year before his legal problems. Pass rushers are very hard to find and Hardy was a top defensive end up before his legal problems. Obviously disgusting, but that's the NFL to a T, play a position of need or at a very high level and unless you are in jail, you'll always have a job. Morality means nothing, winning everything.

Whatever happened to that rule that was floated several years back that had to do with stripping teams of draft picks or fining them when they had too many criminals on the team?

Well that would be no good because it would unbalance the NFCW, the conference and the league without the Niners.

These things are just a levelling of the atrocity of SB XL. And it's not like these kinds of calls are exclusive to Seattle. They changed (again) the rules around what a catch actually is because of the Dez thing in GB last year that was far more obvious / apparent / known and had far bigger ramifications than what happened on Monday night.

Hover goes 95 yards with no timeouts to score a TD (on a terribly defended hail Mary) by the Colts. 13-10 at half

It's tragic that someone from the AFC South will make the playoffs.

I hate playing the Colts. They've been getting cheap calls for years. Watt gets his jersey ripped off and it's not holding. Texans get called for defensive holding to negate a int for brushing the air near a guys jersey.
