Went up to Edmonton today for the game which I really enjoyed. The supporters for both countries were LOUD but the attendance was disappointing. The fact that most of the tickets for sale for China vs. Cameroon were $95 seems silly. If they had some variable pricing or some bidding system so families could have come out for something like $20 a head it would be great. No reason to not have 30,000+ for elimination games.
Considering how pitiful the attendance for Edmonton's NASL team has been this year getting 15000 for a knockout game doesn't surprise me. That city just is not a good soccer town anymore.
2 Alberta Major Soccer League games were held in Edmonton today, another tomorrow, and another Wednesday. If they played then surely all minor soccer would be allowed to play. The rule either doesn't exist, is not enforced, or applies only to pro soccer.
I was at a bbq last night where this was the topic of conversation. Perhaps i was given wrong info

I don't think Brazil was particularly strong this tournament. Sure they were 3-0 with zero GA but from what I saw they weren't really playing well.
I'm really excited for the game tonight and the USA game tomorrow. I think Colombia has a very good chance of upsetting the Americas. Colombia will likely be playing aggressively and their goaltending has been solid thus far.

Brazil is a lovely team to watch. It's like they have the ball on the string.
Today, Australia played the way I hope Canada will play. Physical, with focus on the counterattack.
Agreed. I was sad to see Brazil lose because they play a beautiful style, i know hard work, hustle, defensive play have their merits, but I prefer an entertaining style any day.
Canada's road to the finals a bit easier now, on paper anyway; but it's very much a "one game at a time" type of situation. Our biggest concern right now...
Is it just me, or in some games are the commentators too quick to announce that the game is over? It'll be like a goal lead with 2 mins left in extra time and they think there's no chance.
^ the first 30 seconds of that are clips of her just jogging / walking around. I got bored and stopped watching, does it get better?
Yes.

Of note is that her teammates Dickenmann and Crnogorčević outscored her in the 10 games of qualifying for this tournament - 10 goals and 9 goals respectively to Bachmann's 8. So Switzerland has options.
It's good Belanger can move up to her natural striker position. Schmidt is still hurting and will be playing 75%. It might've been better to move her up top and give her midfield responsibility to Fleming, and take off Tancredi in the process.
Herdman calls Tancredi a "big game" player. She was in the past, three, four years ago, but it's time to move on in terms of having her as a starter.
Hey, if Canada wins, all of this is moot, but the lineup doesn't bode much confidence.
