I still don't think any of the Flames players really think they are playing on a contender or are close to it. If Andersson wants to be on an actual contender then he will be gone.

Maybe something like Andersson for Lucius + Walton + 2nd?
Everyone agrees that a package for Andersson needs to include a 1st, but getting 2 good prospects and a 2nd isn't terrible either (depending on Walton's value)
|
I would still love to get Yager, but that package looks pretty good too IMO.
Another note: Walton leads the Sudbury Wolves in scoring by an incredible 20 points!

Yager has looked pretty brutal at the World Juniors, imo.

The entire forward group hasn't looked good and it's a super small sample size.
I'd take a flyer on the guy who looked great in the WHL playoffs and Memorial Cup last year (and really his whole WHL career)

I would take Yager as well. We need center prospects, and he is a good one I wouldn't let a sample sway us away from him.

A fortune? In what context? An $80M cap or a $100M cap? By the time the extension kicks in Andersson will have been a year younger than Weegar if my not so great math skills checkout.
And where are these reports? I’ve seen speculation/rumours here but not a word from anyone who is willing to put their name to it. I don’t think I’ve even seen Andersson’s name appear on trade board whether it is from CJ or Seravelli. Every time Stienberhytalks about it he says resign all day long.
Is Conroy blowing smoke? Doubt it. I think he’s sincere in his appetite to keep Anderson.
Certainly willing to acknowledge that this is only my best guess but, again, the number of instances where the Flames have traded a core player outside of a trade request (Bennett, Hamilton, Markstrom) or contractual status (Tanev, Hanifin, Tkachuk, Lindholm) they are few and far between. Things may get there with Andersson, but I don’t think they’re there yet.

Defense is the one pisition outside of goalie where we have some depth. There are a number of players on the wranglers that could move up to the big club. They will need open spots for those guys or you might as well start trading them.
Andersson is probably one of the last players on the roster that might get you a decent young forward in return. The flames need someone who can put the puck in the net.

Keepding Andersson and drafting and trading for offensive right-handed D seems like they may have a plan in place.
We also have Bahl as well. Unless the plan is to have 5 right shot d in the lineuop.

Which guys in the A are ready? Some are close, I don’t doubt but are there any that are ready to steal a spot? I think it’s more likely we see one a year break through over the next 2-3 years. Maybe you get two in one year…..

We shouldn't be interested in him based on 3 games of World Jr. action where the entire team has yet to live up to expectations. Those 3 games are all that matters when evaluating talent. I'm glad you're here with your subtle reminders to keep us on the straight and narrow. Craig Conroy please read.

Photon. He doesn't pick ads based on money generation. He picks ads based on annoyance generation. Your suffering is his joy.

It seems a little calmer today so far actually... yesterday it was covering my entire screen at times and making it almost impossible to post

If you are trading Rasmus I hope it is either for multiple picks or one good prospect.
Lucius has never really put up numbers at any level and Walton was a 6th round pick.
Flames also don’t need to trade Rasmus this year, if a team wants him they should overpay not underpay.

They don't have to trade him this year, but he is worth more than he will be next year.

Agreed if you're trading Andersson early it's to get a guy that you see as a top 6 center or to get a pick where you think you can get that guy.
So it has to be a top 15 pick (like the Hronek or Chychrun trades)
Or a team like Winnipeg has to actually be willing to pay the price of a Yager.
Maybe I'm underrating Lucius (can't stay healthy and production has not been good in AHL) and Walton (pretty great draft+1 so far) but I feel like I want more of a chance at a true blue chip.

Bingo, do you have the 'cgy puck' license plate? I've parked beside you a few times at the store. We must be neighbors.
If not, I'm curious which user does.
