Friedman during HNIC saying The Sabers and Red Wings are scouting eachother hard and have been working on something before Xmas. No names but there's some real smoke there I guess.also said watch for the Rangers, Sabers, Red Wings and another team (forgot who already) as they're making the calls.
Also brought up Brandon Saad again. Saying the Blues are still trying to move him.

Man the Rangers are going to implode soon.
Coach, GM and a slew of trades could be on the horizon.
It's that bad isn't it.

I’d guess Byram is the target for DET. They’re desperate for a dman who can move the puck and boost the PP.
Hard to see a good match for the return - BUF and DET have the same needs up front. Maybe something around Copp or Rasmussen?

Just back playing after holiday break but wonder if there is further chatter about Andersson. With the talk on HNIC about Detroit and Buffalo wonder if Andersson would fit the bill for the Wings in need of a puck moving dman. A few teams would like make sense,
Detroit - 2025 1st (top 10 protected) + Kasper
Dallas - 2026 1st + Lundkvist + Bourque for 50% retained Andersson
Colorado - Ritchie + Gulyayev + 2025 4th for 50% retained Andersson + Barrie
Winnipeg - Yager + Freij + 2025 1st for 50% retained Andersson

Not sure, but I think you may be overvaluing Andersson on the bottom-2 proposals.

Yeah likely, just taking a stab. Probably more like Ritchie and mid round pick/prospect and Yager coupled with the same on the Winnipeg deal.

Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic to get either Ritchie or Yager. I would prefer Ritchie, but I don't think Colorado would part with him as they don't have much in the pipeline for forwards (especially centers). Winnipeg and Detroit might just have the prospect depth to be able to part with an A prospect without missing a beat. (I still love Kasper btw).

I would pass on Yager myself.

You're not likely getting either of those players straight up for Andersson let alone the +'s, lol. We'll get a good return for him but fans need to temper their expectations or you'll be very disappointed.

I wonder about Yager.
He's actually not a guy Winnipeg drafted. He was just the best asset they could get in return for a guy who wouldn't sign for them.
They actually might be less attached to him than some of their other prospects and Winnipeg could really use another top dman if they want to make a serious run this year.
They had a great season last year to then lose round 1 to Colorado. They got off to a great start this year but have just been good since (11-8-1). And they have Ehlers, Iafallo, Appleton, Namestikov, Pionk as UFAs this year and Connor as UFA next year.
It's kind of now or never for them to push some chips in again like they did last season and I think this year they might prefer a guy with some term like Andersson.

The question is, what comparable defenceman are the Jets going to get for a lower price?

Nope, the question is actually what are the jets willing to pay for Andersson.

Even if you don't get Yager, and I think it might be possible that you could, they do have a few other interesting trade chips:
C/W Kieron Walton: I wrote a favorable review about him last year, and I believe I had him in the third round. The Jets got him in the 6th-round, and he has exploded this season with 54 points in 32 games- tied for 4th in OHL scoring. He's a 6'6" behemoth who skates well, and exhibits good vision and skill as a power-forward.
There's also D Alfons Freij, C Brad Lambert, LW Colby Barlow, LW Kevin He, D Elias Salomonsson, and C Chaz Lucius.
