Yeah. Nope. Trust me, I've tried numerous paths. My job is responding to issues brought up by clients we deal with. No issues, no work. I've tried to take on more tasks but he won't let go of anything. He needs to be in control of everything. It's just not a great situation. Time to move on.

Do you need us to create some issues? It sounds like there are a few of us not doing anything at our jobs either.

Quit yer bitchin, junior. Wait till you're 35 and you and your high school buddies realize that you've been friends for 20 years. Just saying it makes me feel old. But you know what? I don't mind. I've had lots of fun, and nowadays, I have more fun because I can afford to. Going to Esso Plaza for a $1 movie with a bus pass was ok, but going on a plane to Italy is more fun.

Christ I turned 56 last month and life is just a blur. It's depressing when you realise that bumps and bruises don't heal as quickly as they did when you were in your 20's. Your mind still thinks you're in your 20's and tells you that your invincible but your body quickly tells you otherwise

Yeah, I am watching my dad go through that. He's 73, but damn, he has the will of a guy in his mid-twenties. He gets so pissed off when he can't just carry doubled up pieces of drywall down the stairs by himself, or that he is 'only' hitting hitting his drives 230 now, not 275.
I wish they would discover a fountain of youth tomorrow so I could give the formula to my old man and both of us could hang out as 40 year olds. Better yet, we both take it, and we could go on an epic outdoor adventure as 25 year olds. Nothing pisses me off more than watching him grow old. I've said it before, but when I was a kid, the dude seemed like Wolverine. Indestructible, tough as nails, and always.....better than your dad.

I saw the same thing with my dad before he passed away from Cancer at age 66. My mother is 76 years old and she sometimes gets depressed when she can't do the things she used to do in the past. Between the asthma and arthritis in her hips it's sad to watch her struggle.
I'm jealous that you still have your dad around. I really miss the rounds of golf I had with my dad and the friendly competition that went with it. I still have his golf clubs and bag as a reminder of what we once had.

Watching both my dad and my grandpa turn a major corner right now. Grandpa just went into assisted living (he's over 90. And stubborn, what can I say?), and pops is retiring and just can't keep up anymore. I know all too well how you feel - the adamantium starts to get brittle.
Cheers to fathers.

It's crazy the mental influence and dominance dads can have on sons. I can waste him on the scorecard now, but for some weird reason, I still feel like a totally inferior golfer like when I was 11 years old shooting low 100's from the ladies and he was 45 shooting in the high 70's/low 80's. Like if I hit a bad shot now, I will still ask for advice, and he will still give it. And I still make sure he drives the golf cart, it just feels wrong when I do.
Yes Dion, I am incredibly grateful for the relationship I have with my dad. We had some rough years especially in my late teens early twenties. But now, I cannot think of a funnier, and more loyal friend I have ever had.

I am glad you guys cherish the memories you had with your fathers. Not everyone is so fortunate.
So changing the subject feels like I am the dude who walks in on an awkward man hug, but it is really grinding my gears that some dude parked his car for sale in front of my house like I am a used at lot. Is there anything I can do to get rid if this clown so when I call his number I know I have some recourse?

I've seriously never laughed so hard in my life. Thanks for that one.
As for your gear grinder, is it a nice car? You could buy it. Problem solved.

All I can think of now, is this 'joke/story' - you need to be able to do something like this.
Ok, it's a total load obviously, but kind of funny to contemplate.
Quote:
Now get this. I was sitting at my desk, when I remembered a phone call I had to make. I found the number and dialed it. A man answered nicely
saying, "Hello?" I politely said, "This is Patrick Hanifin and could I please speak to Robin Carter?" Suddenly the phone was slammed down on me! I couldn't believe that anyone could be that rude.
I tracked down Robin's correct number and called her. She had transposed the last two digits. After I hung up with Robin, I spotted the wrong number still lying there on my desk. I decided to call it again. When the same person once more answered, I yelled "You're a jerk!" and hung up.
Next to his phone number I wrote the word "Jerk," and put it in my desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills, or had a really bad
day, I'd call him up. He'd answer, and then I'd yell, 'You're a jerk!" It would always cheer me up.
Later in the year the phone company introduced caller ID. This was a real disappointment for me, I would have to stop calling the jerk. Then one day I had an idea. I dialed his number, then heard his voice, "Hello." I made up a name. "Hi. This is Herman with the telephone company and I'm just
calling to see if you're familiar with our caller ID program?" He went,
"No!" and slammed the phone down. I quickly called him back and said,
"That's because you're a jerk!"
And the reason I took the time to tell you this story, is to show you how if there's ever anything really bothering you, you can do something about it. Just dial XXX-XXXX.
The old lady at the mall really took her time pulling out of the parking space. I didn't think she was ever going to leave. Finally her car began to move and she started to very slowly back out of the stall. I backed up a little more to give her plenty of room to pull out. Great, I thought, she's finally leaving.
All of a sudden this black camaro come flying up the parking isle in the wrong direction and pulls into her space. I started honking my horn and yelling, "You can't just do that, Buddy. I was here first!" The guy climbed out of his camaro completely ignoring me. He walked toward the mall as if he didn't even hear me.
I thought to myself, this guy's a jerk, there's sure a lot of jerks in this world. I noticed he had a For Sale sign in the back window of his car. I wrote down the number. Then I hunted for another place to park.
A couple of days later, I'm at home sitting at my desk. I had just gotten off the phone after calling XXX-XXXX and yelling, "You're a jerk!" (It's really easy to call him now since I have his number on speed dial). I noticed the phone number of the guy with the black camaro lying on my desk and thought I'd better call this guy, too.
After a couple rings someone answered the phone and said, "Hello."
I said, "Is this the man with the black camaro for sale?"
"Yes it is."
"Can you tell me where I can see it?"
"Yes, I live at 1802 West 34th street. It's a yellow house and the car's parked right out front."
I said, "What's your name?"
"My name is Don Hansen."
"When's a good time to catch you, Don?"
"I'm home in the evenings."
"Listen Don, can I tell you something?"
"Yes."
"Don, you're a jerk!" And I slammed the phone down.
After I hung up I added Don Hansen's number to my speed dialer. For a while things seemed to be going better for me. Now when I had a problem I had two jerks to call. Then after several months of calling the jerks and hanging up on them, the whole thing started to seem like an obligation. It just wasn't as enjoyable as it used to be. I gave the problem some serious thought and came up with a solution.
First, I had my phone dial Jerk #1. A man answered nicely saying, "Hello." I yelled "You're a jerk!" But I didn't hang up. The jerk said, "Are you still there?"
I said, "Yeah.."
He said, "Stop calling me." I said, "No." He said, "What's your name, Pal?" I said, "Don Hansen." "Where do you live?" "1802 West 34th Street. It's a yellow house and my black camaro's parked out front." "I'm coming over right now, Don. You'd better start saying your prayers." "Yeah, like I'm really scared, Jerk!" and I hung up.
Then I called Jerk #2. He answered, "Hello." I said, "Hello, Jerk!" He said, "If I ever find out who you are..." "You'll what?" "I'll kick your butt." "Well, here's your chance. I'm coming over right now Jerk!" And I hung up.
Then I picked up the phone and called the police. I told them a big gang fight was going down at 1802 West 34th Street. After that I climbed into my car and headed over to 34th Street to watch the whole thing.
I turned onto 34th Street and parked my car under the shade of a tree half a block from Jerk #2's house. There were two guys fighting out front. Suddenly there were about 12 police cars and a helicopter. The police wrestled the two men to the ground and took them away.
A couple of months go by and I get a call for jury duty. I was picked to be on a trial of two guys charged with disorderly conduct. As luck would have it, it happened to be the same two guys. I might have influenced the jury, because when they announced the verdict, they said, "We the jury find the defendants to be guilty, and a couple of jerks!"

I should have checked to see what time the Stampede actually opens. I decided to bring the kid this morning and I'm disappointed to find out the park only opens at 11. I figured it would open much earlier than that (8 or 9) especially because various events start at 11.
Poor planning on my part.

I would have stopped at Olympic Plaza first had I known I would have to sit and wait at the gate. Good learning lesson though.

How can someone go to the largest airport in Canada to pick someone up and not know:
1) Which airline they're arriving on
2) Where the airplane is coming from
Yes, it's nice that you know the person started in Prague, but not particularly helpful if you tell me the connected somewhere in Europe.

When you're approaching an intersection and want to turn right please put on your signal light so I know what you're doing. Waiting till the last second while i'm waiting to make a left turn RGMG. Thanks for making me wait when I could have made that left turn!
