Why do you keep buying it? Surely you could just purchase Bran Flakes or something.

They're hard as rocks. I prefer to buy Thompsons Seedless raisins and add them to my cereal

Isn't that what the milk is for? To rehydrate the raisins?

So, does anyone have thoughts on how best to do this?
- Opening a joint account, getting two credit cards and just paying into the account each month.
- Getting a new credit card in one of our accounts and just having the other one transfer money to the other each month to reconcile.
- Can you get two credit cards for the same credit account if it isnt a joint account?
|
I don't know if it's the BEST way but that's essentially what we do.
I have a Visa in my name that I pay from my chequing account. I added another card for my wife on the same account and we put almost eveything on this card and pay it off each month. Aeroplan points, yum!
Each month I look at the Visa bill, subtract my personal me-only expenses (my wife puts hers on a MC) and then muliply what's left by .425 to get the amount that she transfers to me before I pay the Visa. She brings home 42.5% of the net income, therefore she only pays 42.5% of the bills.
She has her own chequing/savings accounts - I think it's important for each person to establish their own credit history instead of having both paycheques dumped into the same joint account, but I could be naive about that. We know what all our recurring monthly expenses are (strata fee, insurance, etcetera) and have recurring transfers set from each of our chequing accounts to a joint account to pay those expenses. I set up a spreadsheet to track everything, and to make updates as our wages or expenses change.

I understand there might be reasons due to having a small business or being a contractor, but isn’t this a lot more work than just having everything being joint accounts as a married/common law couple? Is there a benefit? To me it seems like almost you’re anticipating a situation where your spouse will judge your spending and put you in a situation where you have to say, “This is *my* money, and I can I spend it how I want”.

It's more work, yes, it takes me maybe 20 minutes per month for the Visa bill. Some time spent setting up the set-and-forget recurring transfers to our joint account that I only adjust maybe twice a year.
Benefit being we each have our financial independance which I view as important. My reasoning is if I snuff it unexpectedly some day she has her own credit history established and will have an easier time setting up new accounts that are currently in my name. Could be absolute bollocks, I'm not a financial wizard, but that's how I see it.
Once the shared bills and the visa is paid, then yes she has her money and she can spend it or invest it how she wants, as can I, but there's not the lack of trust between us you're hinting at.

That’s fair. I should look into it a bit, I am the primary cardholder on the cc we use the most, should maybe switch things up a bit if something like that is important.
I think I like the simplicity of depositing and drawing from one common pool, and if one of us kicks the bucket, the other isn’t dealing with a headache of gaining access or having to close down accounts and things.
I guess one benefit to keeping things separate is that if someone comes down with a terminal illness and decides to max out their credit cards and drive off a cliff in a Lamborghini, it might insulate the spouse a bit.

We have completely joint bank accounts, and all the money we both earn goes into the primary chequing account. We have 1 primary credit card each to ensure we both have good credit history (plus we get 2x westjet companion certs per year). I pay both credit cards out of the common bank account every month (and also all our other bills). I took over bill paying when she got a more demanding job, and she could easily resume it if I died.

We have both. Basically the accounts we had when we first met we retained. Then we have a joint account and a CC with a secondary card holder that allows us to easily transfer funds back and forth between us. Make sure both of you have at least one CC. That way one spouse doesn't end up in a bizarre situation where they have a zero credit rating (my wife was somehow like that because she got a credit card from her parents and just used/paid that off for years (never building up her own credit, but contributing to theirs).
It allows us to maintain some privacy, get random credit cards to try and exploit cardholder benefits and is relatively convenient in the sense we didn't need to change a bunch of auto deposit/auto pay etc. stuff.
I don't know if all banks have it. but there might be a way to automatically transfer funds from one account to another. So you could keep having your pay cheques go to a personal account and automatically transfer funds into a joint account.
I mean, it's up to you. Many couples do different things and do so harmoniously.
It's like wearing pants and saying all your stuff is in your pants pockets anyways. But for some, there's a distinct difference in how comfortable you feel with keys, phone or wallet in the front or back pockets. Not all people are unanimous in something like comfort for whether a wallet and/or phone are in the front or back. But there might be some facets that many more are agreeable like the discomfort one feels if keys are in the back pocket.

Instead if there is no gas space for the liquid to expand into the pressure rise will be driven by liquid thermal expansion. At that point the pressure rise equation is essentially dT*alpha/compressibility of CO2.
This is one of the two common mistakes among people who refill the camping butane / propane mix canisters.
One mistake when re- filling those is not understanding that the pressure in the partially filled canister is the vapour pressure of the mixed gas. So people will say they won’t fill it up all the way if they use propane instead of butane/propane mix. Since Propane as a higher vapour pressure as soon as you start filling you bulge the canister.
The second is the above mistake of assuming the pressure in then canister when overfilled is driven by the vapour pressure of the fluid as opposed to liquid thermal expansion. 10 degrees is easily sufficient to over pressure the butane cylinders. Now with CO2s vapour pressure being about 6MPA you will have more design margin on the canisters but I’d still be very concerned with overfilling.

For the average person solving for resulting pressure from a temperature increase gets the point across. Don't need to get into process simulations and vapor pressure calcs for multiphase hydrocarbon blends.

Why do radio broadcasts trail what’s happening on the ice or the field? I’ve found it’s become significant - sometimes by 30-60 seconds.
Edit: I found the answer online. It’s annoying.

Why don't people post public answers to questions that were posted publicly? What if someone has the same question, are they supposed to re-submit the question?
*Never mind, figured it out.

I think your leg should be able to handle more #### than your armpit because of gravity and evolution.
