He has NHL size/strength. He has NHL smarts, playmaking and finishing. He plays a very pro style game as he's very strong and smart in the tough areas you need to go to to score. Wing is by far the easiest position to break in at as the defensive responsibilities aren't as vital.

Only question is his speed but if he works on his leg strength this summer it may be fine.

He's the most NHL ready prospect we've drafted since I've been following the team.

What FDW said, also worth pointing out Craig Button believes Tkachuk is NHL ready:

Yeah in my mock up I almost put Tkachuk in place of Shinkaruk which could easily happen IMO.

Our success next season IMO will have little to do with the fancy musical chairs on the wing and not as much to do with Elliott as people are probably thinking. Monahan taking another step, Bennett taking a huge step, and Gulutzan's systems will decide the success of the 2016-17 Flames.

Here is what I envision:

Gaudreau / Monahan / Brouwer
Ferland / Backlund / Frolik
Tkachuk / Bennett / Chiasson
Bouma / Stajan / Hathaway

Giordano / Brodie
Jokipakka / Hamilton
Naladal / Engelland

Elliot / Johnson

And yes, I am assuming Wideman is gone by training camp.

I like that team and I'd take my chances with that team. Is it play off material? Maybe, maybe not. But I feel like that team would be very competitive all the way through till the end of the season.

Solid goaltending should be assured, defence looks settled, nice blend of youth and experience. Yep, roll on October!

I'd say the sooner systems employed by G G are embraced and reinforced by Huska the better well be .

From the goal out we are already SO much better. Maybe hanging onto Wideman isn't so bad to start.

Stay healthy

Get off to a good start so we aren't doing catch up and will be okay.

I like Erratiks lineup

Pretty certain Wideman is here until the deadline.

Still can't believe this is a cap team after dumping Jones and having just about the cheapest goalie tandem in the league.

If the comments are any indication, think Stajan might get a chance on Backlund's wing with Frolik to start.
