Huh? Burke has fished extensively in NCAA waters in the past. I have no idea how you would come to that conclusion.

I don't think you can include Wideman in that list - although he has a longer contract, he's one of the best defensemen on this team and doesn't deserve to be looped into a bad contract discussion.
I may be wrong, but Babchuk's contract was only two years? And both Sarich and Tanguay were traded?

The Flames pursued Burke to take this position. It's clear the owners wanted Burke to jump in.

AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

I hope we do blow some serious cash on free agents this summer. We are going to need a first line, hopefully after we trade Cammelleri, Stajan, and Stempniak.

Again - I don't disagree with you. I just felt like Burke brushed off the situation that Feaster had to step into and deal with.

He's just gonna hire some spiritual clone of himself and remove any other voices in the room.
I thought the Rebuild was going pretty well. Excellent 1st rebuild draft, great lower round prospect (Gaudreau), excellent farm team, lot's of trades for young NHL'ers that had minimal cost.
Gross.
Sad day for the future of the Calgary Flames.

No - He says he firing feaster because they are drafting and/or acquiring payers that will never win in the NHL.
And he's 100% right. The Oilers are the example of what small and soft throughout the lineup gets you.
This is a great day for Flames hockey!

Burke's frustrations about not being able to hold third period leads doesn't bode well for Hartley and co. Seems like a weird justification for letting a GM go.

it did seem weird that his biggest complaint about the franchise was that they couldn't keep leads YET he stated that the coaching staff is awesome.

There are players worth going after this summer.
Miller, Vanek, Stastny, Downie, Ott.

The whole small players thing is more grist for the mill to trade Cammalleri.

I liked Burkes press conference. Makes me feel more confident in the direction of the team moving forward.
I think he alluded to us getting fleeced in the Iginla trade.
