Well if you are claiming "political opportunism" it sure does.
Seriously your defence is just plain stupid

Also why would they wait a week? Did he not need this boost back then? Was he not unpopular 7 days ago? Was the economy any better then?
And what 'wars" are they fighting in Pakistan?
Conspiracy theorists are funny.

Well I didn't make the claim that they waited just a week...that was another poster..try and read more carefully.
Also, knowone has claimed that Bin Laden is not dead...
Pakistan has been targeted by drone strikes/special operations on a routine basis. Pakistan people have been protesting this. This is congress people saying this .....pay attention before jumping on the conspiracy theory bandwagon.....

they have? Or was it Al Queda being targeted within Pakistans borders.
Also...are you now saying it could have happened a long time ago (Osamas demise) or hasnt happened? Im confused.
And believe me...im on no conspiracy bandwagon...I think they are for people who cannot accept reality and thus have to rationalize anyway possible to co-exist within that same reality. That's OK, it doesn't make a difference to me, its just that they continue on in the face of overwhelming empirical evidence to the contrary.
Anyways...this is getting derailed. Carry on.
Oh and awesome edit on the headline of this thread...LOL!!!

So I would assume if I am a conspiracy theory guy that Bin laden would have been killed sometime between now and the mid terms.
I just couldn't see them having OBL body on ice and not using it in the mid terms. So they waited and waited and thought, ok lets release this info late on a Sunday night, during the royal wedding weekend that would be the perfect time to do this.
Personally I would have waited for a couple of hours before the Super Bowl, the year of an election but what do I know.

Well no kidding...thats how it works in the USA. Commander in Chief and all that stuff.
So I am assuming that no matter when this occurred...it was part of a conspiracy to benefit his leadership ratings or something?
I simply dont get it...totally am lost as to what the conspiracy is now.

Some guy on the radio was going on about a US conspiracy involving Bin Laden's death- he then started talking about levitating cars in New York on 9/11... Sounds about right.

Cannot accept reality........okay then...
I have never claimed that Bin Laden is still alive. I'm not sure anyone in this thread has claimed that. I thought he was dead along time ago. But like I said, if they publish proof I'm on board.
I don't think this is unreasonable....
The operations within Pakistan have killed civilians. It is war whether you want to admit it or not, and Pakistani people are angry about this infringement.

So if Obama thinks that there are terrorists here in Canada, you would be fine with drone strikes and foreign troops walking in here and leaving civilian casualties behind?

You've said this a couple times now... If proof is what you need, then hold your friggin horses. The announcement was made less than 20 hours ago. Did you expect Obama to come out in his press conference with a picture of bin Laden's dead mug? Give it a few days.

Relax.......
The UK papers have been using the fake internet photo as proof already, but I will wait patiently for official proof.

If the Canadian authorities refused to co-operate and actually were shielding terrorists from being exposed...then yes....by all means.
See not every scenario is equal. Therefore not an apt comparison.

I thought there was some IT tech in Pakistan live twittering the whole thing last night when the operation was happening
http://www.popsci.com/technology/art...-assassination
Though if you want an actual photo and dna proof, guess only the US can release that.

Yes. Because when I said "That's not a "war" by any stretch," what I really meant was "I would be perfectly ok with the US bombing Canada and killing civilians."
Seriously, how did you even come to that conclusion? At what point did my statement even remotely come close to saying that? There's no way you're that delusional. I refuse to believe it.

Has it been explained why this was a kill mission as opposed to capture? And why would they dump his body in the sea? This is odd.

Well I have morals and I value sovereignty.
You're right that it is not conventional warfare...
Not sure why people think it's okay to just bomb any country that they have not declared war on, to get a few bad guys and killing innocents in the process. What is wrong with having these people arrested and brought to justice in other ways, or using force other than dropping highly destructive bombs?
I don't think Pakistan is harboring these people,...they are supposed to be an ally.
