Canada offering $1B in loans to Ukraine through the IMF and an additional $500M in military aid in the new budget. Details will likely show up soon.

Canada will offer Ukraine up to C$1 billion ($794 million) in new loan resources via the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and provide an additional C$500 million in military aid, the Liberal government said on Thursday.

The announcements in the federal budget mean Canada has now committed more than C$1.2 billion in direct contributions to Ukraine, as well as offering up to C$1.6 billion in loan supports.

“This support has helped respond to the humanitarian crisis, and ensure that the Ukrainian government can continue to provide essential services,” the budget said.

Canada will offer up to C$1 billion in new loan resources to Kyiv through a new Administered Account for Ukraine at the IMF.

Russians ramp up their attack towards Kramatorsk by launching a missile at a railroad station that was being used as an evacuation collection point for women and children. Sadistically they wrote "for the children" on the side of the guided missile before firing. Missile killed at least 30 and injured over 100 civilians.

Evidence for who fired the missile was posted on Russian social media before being deleted. Hopefully there is a war crimes trial at some point. Posts by NYT, Ukrainians, and Bellingcat, BBC

I read on reddit today the translation is a bit misleading, it was meant more like 'for our Russian children' instead of 'this bomb is meant to kill Ukrainian children'.

Not that it matters, as the rocket hit civilians either way.

I read on Reddit (take with a grain of salt, obvs) the translation of that "for the children" thing could also be referencing the belief common among the rank and file Russians that Ukraine has been killing ethnic Russian children in Donbas. This could have been scrawled on there as a revenge message on behalf of the kids this Russian soldier thinks were murdered by Ukrainians.

Now, obviously that changes basically nothing with respect to the atrocity of what the forces are doing, but it does potentially speak to the intent of the Russian soldiers and may mean this message wasn't written statistically sadistically.

Putin would love to see him dead. He's very brave, and his security people must be amazing.

It’s not at all crazy that he’s still alive. He’s taking about the same risks as the hundreds of journalists working in the Ukraine. There may be some Russian operatives trying to take him out (though I doubt it - that would be a suicide mission that would just turn Zelenskyy into a martyr), but he also has bodyguards.

Dude has a lot to do, I'm not even criticizing I just think people need to use critical thinking skills because 0% chance Zelenskyy is out there fighting given he has a country to run as well which during a wartime effort I would imagine is a 100% full time job considering humans have to sleep too. Plus he's obviously been meeting with all western leaders basically constantly and I assume being briefed on the war and other matters.

Are there any stories corroborating what he actually has done in terms of fighting or is it more like typical politician / Trudeau-esque / propaganda stuff.
