The art of speaking without actually saying something.

Dave Nonis needs to land a GM job so he would be an insider with at least one team.

Interesting. If it were to involve Stamkos, then you have to think it involves Backes or Pietrangelo going the other way.

Drouin and Stamkos for Backes or Pietrangelo. Drouin basically in there instead of a conditional 1st?

Maybe STL adds a 2nd or 3rd or middling prospect?

EDIT: Disregard, didnt realize Backes is a UFA at end of season also.

Backes +Fabri for Stamkos + Drouin?

Not nearly enough

Drouin > Fabri
Stamkos >>>>> Backes

Sorry man but think about what you are suggesting. A 25 year old elite superstar that can score 50 goals for a 32 year old big body that can score 50pts. Both are UFA's so why swap the young dynamic player for the older guy?

Fabri for Drouin may go down but the Stamkos-Backes suggestion is completely out to lunch.

Let's offer Bennett+Hudler if that is all it takes to get both Stamkos and Drouin

even if we presume that Tampa is over a barrel facing a shotgun, the <<<< is in the wrong direction...

How exactly is T-bay over a barrel anyways.
- They control the player
- Teams are interested
- The player has no real choices in the matter, such as NTCs

So what barrel are they over and why?

I suppose if he's gone to the AHL with a crap attitude and it's showing in his play. Don't want him back on the big club, but want to move him before he sewers his value.

just speculation.

Fair. I guess I never really looked at it from the Bennett/Hudler aspect.

I guess the term (Barrel/Shotgun) is a bit extreme. But I was thinking that since Stamkos contract talks arent happening, Drouin demanding a trade and the deadline looming may be put Yzerman in a uncomfortable situation. Perhaps maybe realizes that the desired return for Drouin isnt going to be what he had initially hoped, is all.

EDIT: before i read the last couple posts I was thinking about if there was an add on STL's part and if that add would be Rattie. It doesnt solve the Backes age but it gives Tampa some sort of gauranteed retention on 2 decent players for the future. But then thought it does the exact opposite for STL so why would they agree to that... I dont know..

What makes you say that? He had 87pts in 58 games his draft year which was good enough to be drafted 21st overall. Then he had an injury plagued draft + 1 season where he only played 30 games and had 51pts in 30 games. In the NHL he has 16pts in 42 games which is .38ppg.

Drouin had 105pts in 49 games in his draft year and then followed it up with 108 in 46. Those numbers are far superior but the Q is a higher scoring league. In the NHL he has 40pts in 89 career games which is .44ppg.

Drouin had better junior numbers, so far better NHL numbers and was a much higher draft pick and highly touted prospect. If the trade goes down I think the Blues add

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Elliott (COL) and Klinkhammer (EDM) clear waivers. No one on waivers today.

Galchenyuk+Gilbert for Drouin+Coburn?

Habs upgrade a bit on D and Yzerman gets a comparable young player to Drouin?

Habs get bent in that deal, IMO.
