I’m guessing that’s the IMDb ratings for each episode.

I’m not a fan of either incest or rape, just curious about the scale for what is upsetting.

They're both horrifying, but context is important.
Given the nature of Ramsey Bolton, rape should have been expected by everyone watching this character over the years. It's a little disingenuous to clutch your pearls after watching him torture Theon for so long and destroy him as a human being.
It's not the norm besides some of the Targaryens to mate with your cousins, let alone brother and sister. Since it's considered far outside the norms of the culture, it should be viewed as pretty horrible. It was so bad that it caused the catalyst for this entire show when it was accidentally viewed by Bran.

Just make it smart and interesting. Give the characters some intelligence, and keep things semi-consistent in the world. It does feel rushed, but we've had 1.5 episodes of limited time devoted to pure exposition in this season - exposition that would've been used to explore motivations, build characters, and foreshadow plots in previous seasons - instead we have drinking games and deus ex machina. It doesn't need to feel - or be - nearly as rushed as it is. Not to mention, the writers decided to cut away from Jon's big reveal to Sansa and Arya. FFS - these are your protagonists doing something very important. Sansa then breaks her promise to Jon in the next two minutes.
|
This is exactly why I felt the first 2 episodes of the season were such a waste. Ecspecially since no one really died during the BoW. Now we’re on a rushed pace and things don’t make sense. But hey we got 40 minutes of them sitting round a fire giving a bunch of fan service

Seems like an accurate enough sampling of how the fans are rating the series. How is it meaningless?

Rotten tomatoes % aren’t ratings. Every single reviewer could have given an episode 3/5 and it would get 100% fresh. Another episode could get nothing but 2/5 reviews and it would have a 0% score. In reality both episodes are mediocre.
They’re completely meaningless numbers.

Yeah, Cersei who (somehow) was able to get Missandei and brought her to the meeting for the sole purpose of killing her gives a #### about parley code at this point. We're talking about the same Cersei who just betrayed them when she knew they were fighting a world-saving battle. The same Cersei who blew up a sept. Now she's even more unhinged and she didn't take the opportunity to do the one thing that has defined her for the last several seasons - killing Tyrion.
Can't even use the excuse that she still has some reservation about killing him due to family, we know she doesn't - because of the whole ####ty Bronn scene.
Shows written well don't get deconstructed, poorly written shows do. It's not on the fans, it's on the creators.
|
The whole Bronn bit was just bizarre. How did he get into a room alone with Jaime and Tyrion with a giant crossbow? Winterfell is still a heavily fortified castle, and surely people must be on alert for an attack by Cersei's forces. Then Bronn just f-es off and abandons a lordship, because of a loose promise from Tyrion, who has no actual power or titles anymore. Why include the Bronn storyline in the first place?
The whole episode also ignored all time and space. Characters coming out of nowhere and appearing wherever it was convenient for the plot. So much of the first few seasons was based on the use of distance and topography as an advantage. It's difficult to see all of that get thrown out the window now.
I'm a little bit worried about how the next Star Wars installment is going to turn out with D&D at the helm. Without Martin's script, these guys seem lost. They were also responsible for that awful Wolverine movie, where they decided to make Deadpool mute.

Michael Bay loves over the top black stereotypes and they can be found in most of his movies, sometimes it works out and it's fun for everyone (Bad Boys 1&2, Pain and Gain) and sometime you get jive talking cars that make lots of people uncomfortable.

As a 20th level assassin, Bronn's stealth checks easily exceeded the perception checks of the 1st level Winterfell guards.

I think Cersei didn’t attack them because she would rather avoid a war. She was trying to show them who is boss while not inviting an all out attack.

Well I guess everyone was also wasted and focused on hooking up. The guards were easily distracted. If Bronn has that kind of skill though, the correct course of action would have been to just arrive with a couple of other people, kill off the main players, and then retire to his very own castle, with his pick of ladies.

Kinda seems like a poor strategy to behead Missandei then.

I want to know why everyone kind of forgot about Arya and her super[assassin]powers. No mention during their strategy meeting...do these guys just truly suck at battle strategy?

Do the others know about her "super[assassin]powers"? I think they know that she is skilled with weapons and very sneaky, but I don't think she told them about all her capabilities. Especially if Arya doesn't trust Dany.
