Joey Votto went 4-for-7 with 4 RBI and 2 HR tonight. What a great year he's having.

It would be so cool to see a Canadian boy win the NL MVP and NL Triple Crown at the end of the year.

Was weak, but it's hard to blame him. She is a cutie! On a side note, no pun intended, but the guy has no balls. No way he can get to 2nd base with her. She's using her to get her modeling career started at Sears.

Strasburg likely needs Topmmy John surgery. Well that was a short ray of hope for Nats fans.

Might be good for the Nats. They're not going anywhere next year...a year off is ok. Guys who have Tommy John can come back even stronger.
Both Strasburg and Harper will be there in 2012.

Power pitchers don't typically come back stronger after tommy john, it's not impossible but the odds are definitely against that. He could get back to his current form, but it's defintely not godd for the Nats in any way shape or form.

Actually, there's significant data that shows that the ligament after Tommy John surgery is often strong than before. It's not unheard of for pitchers to throw harder after surgery than before.

Terrible luck, but Strasburg's delivery and approach to pitching had me peg him as a Mark Prior since I watched him at SDSU.

Most suregeons attribute the increased strength to the breakdown the ligament had endured over the years, the surgery essentially takes off those years of abuse. With a young pitcher that's probably not the case.

I'm not sure what you would classify as "young", but Josh Johnson is two years removed from Tommy John surgery (I believe), and now bumps around 92-97 mph. It is really strange how the perception on Tommy John surgery has come full circle, seemed as though a few years ago, it was a question mark whether an arm would come back, today - one full year to the date of surgery and guys are back bumping.

In regards to the Nationals, that is going to be a scary lineup in 2012. With Harper and Strausburg joining the ranks, you can sprinkle in the likes of Jordan Zimmerman with two more years experience, Ryan Zimmerman hitting his prime, and the Ian Desmonds and Roger Bernadina's will have another few years under their belts. Going to be interesting to see what other pieces they add as they gear up to be contenders in the NL East in a few years time.

EDIT - Manny heading to Chicago. Nice pick up by Kenny Williams, a pure hitter in a purely hitter's ballpark. Going to be an interesting finish in the AL Central, with the way the Twinkies have been slumping. Luckily, the ChiSox have been equally as bad.

Anyone else think her friend is extremely more attractive than her? Poor choice by the bullpen, very disappointed in them, and will now be slotted near the bottom of my "least likely teams to ever cheer for".

Haven't you watched "A Beautiful Mind"? His chances of success were better if he didn't go for the hotter friend, but rather the less hot (but still attractive) girl. Well played, I say... especially walking by a group of little kids twice. Hahaha.

Sportsnet West right now Hallday vs Kuroda. Kuroda hasn't allowed a hit through 7

Kuroda was also 0 for 45 this season at the plate and just got his first major league hit!

Love listening to Vin Scully call this

One player in the AL who is very under-rated this year is C.J. Wilson.

It's pretty rare than a guy who once saved 20+ games will go on to win 14 or more as a starter. Many starters can go to the back end of the bullpen like Eckersly, or Dave Righetti, but not too often a former closer emerges as a good starter.
