All without Gauld and Brian White being rested for the first 45’. I’m in awe of their new head coach. While being top of MLS. Fun times to be a Whitecaps fan
Winnipeg Free Press is reporting that the league loaned Valour money to cover operating expenses in 2024 and are doing the same for 2025.
I've been saying for years that Valour are FC Edmonton 2.0 and this just further confirms that belief. All we need now is for the league to strip WFG of their ownership.

Unfortunately they were doomed the minute someone decided that a CFL stadium on the outskirts of town was a good idea.
It is really unfortunate for the league. But it underscores the importance of a good gameday experience. I was very critical of the location of Spruce Meadows initially, admittedly with a bias that you'd expect from someone that lives in Tuscany. But once you get there it sure is great, and that makes it worthwhile. Stoney helps too.
Valour would be further ahead if they slapped some temporary stands for 3-4k, nice and close to the pitch, in a park somewhere. I'm not even exaggerating.

I was thinking about this the other day, and while I believe we have the best stadium experience in the CPL, the opening/completion of the ring road was low key one of the best things that ever happened to this organization. It somewhat made the distance of the stadium irrelevant. Hell, I can get from Killarney to there in 15 minutes; I spend longer than that in traffic just to get downtown to work everyday.

It makes it so much easier. Howie_16 and our Tuscany Express were committed from the start anyway, but we have far less to complain about now.
On a busy day, it could take 50 minutes to get there. 40-45 was pretty typical.
Now a half hour is a good estimate. Maybe 35 minutes tops. And way less frustrating, which makes a big difference when you go there frequently.

As a town planner, I was quite worried about the location. It goes to show you what an invested ownership group can do. They might not be perfect, but the Southern family have approached the CPL as venture rather than just a potential tenant.

The league is within the right range for pop-up stadiums to fit their needs. Just look at the Wanderers right?
Good thing the SM organization & Ian Allison keep inventing new things for us to complain about on our shorter drives to & from the match!
Ian Allison will have a small ceremony to peel off the $14 sticker hiding the $15 price of beer and wonder why nobody is applauding him. They had it ready last year but balked.
Obligatory comment: yes, I appreciate the club, Mr. Allison, the Southerns, the championship we now have, and sponsors… or something. And I exercise my right not to buy it. But $15 a can is still ridiculous.

I am fine with any beer price as long as they don't crack down on drinking beer in the parking lot before the game

I agree. Tailgating culture is so much more than "they should just be inside buying our beer instead". I think that the club understands that.
I'm not much of a beer drinker these days anyway, so going a game without one is no big deal. But I do like what has developed in the parking lot over the years and I hope that never changes.
In addition to the usual from Ship and Anchor and Kildares, Elephant and Castle are running a supporters bus for games this year. They have 10 ticket, transportation and pint packages for $38 and 38 transportation and pint packages for $13. Tickets are in the first few rows of 108.
