In fairness...that simply isnt true.

Sure, Trump is a lunatic. But lots of Countries are electing extremists. Eastern Europe (no Russia doesnt count) Italy, Poland, Sweden, Spain, France was close, Germany is on the verge, England is in Brexit mode and gone through a half-dozen PMs, we could go on and on...Venezuela...on and on.

Its not just America. Granted, Drumpf is, in my opinion, the dumbest of them all, but there is a serious cultural shift happening here. Its not happening everywhere by accident.

Trump sycophants and crackpots all around him, republican house and senate, conservative Supreme Court, Putin influence…surely nothing could go wrong.

This is really what this is and always been about. It's never been about Trump being appealing (complete opposite), and that's the grave error that Democrats have made in this election to make it about Trump.

This is a colossal disaster. Democrats just lost to a felon who orchestrated Jan 6 and they are shellshocked in understanding how. They were so busy explaining how Trump was bad, they never bothered to check what Democrat policies may be polarizing to a majority of American voters. And before someone chimes in about how Democrats are for xxx (human rights) and yyy (democracy) and zzz (abortion rights) and aaa (climate change) and how Republicans are bigots, dumbasses, etc, all of those may be true, but you don't win elections based off ideology and claiming the moral high ground.

Trump and the Republicans by far and large seem to have captured the young vote (more so young male vote). Democrats completely ignored this demographic.

How much did the Biden / Harris administration being so staunchly pro-Israel hurt their chances when their base is majorly who are in the pro-Palestine camp?

The economy was a clear issue and may have been the key issue. Whether fairly or unfairly, Americans saw their woes as a result of the Biden administration that was not addressed.

NBC in absolute shambles. Harris may not even get the popular vote. Republicans win the senate, win the presidency and hold the house is now the likely outcome.

All because Democrats felt their farts smelled nicer and never bothered to step back and realize they still smell.
Well explained. What happened to 2008 hope and change? This whole campaign was run on past grievances and victimhood.

I would not go as far as toxic masculinity but there's certainly been a overcorrection and people voted to move some of that back to the middle.

Tariffs were not a big election issue. The Dems largely left the Trump tariffs intact and didn't push it as a big issue.

And the Dems were always playing defense on illegal immigration.

Most people didn't think the economy had improved over four years and felt the sting of inflation.

So they went hard on abortion and went super negative on Trump.

I listed to Scott Galloway on the Diary of a CEO podcast a couple days ago and he was right about a lot; although his election prediction and endorsement of Harris seems to be wrong.

I think the turning point was Kamala bragging about Cheney endorsing her, she went from the new, refreshing candidate to just another establishment candidate who seemingly loves neocons.

Dems proudly claimed until the second debate that they were above name calling and were solutions-focused, and then promptly went to name calling in the final weeks.

Dems wound up being very hypocritical in that they did a lot of the things they accused Trump's base of. That doesn't make Trump right or righteous but the path to victory was always staying out of the trenches and sticking to the high road.

The Hitler, fascist, garbage talk was always going to do more harm than help.

Foolish.

Good news is, the Democrats still have a shot at winning the House. That would blunt some of the worst impulses of a Trump administration.
