The Jets really should have been able to run away with it. TBH I don't think the Flames have it in them, but I fear the worst for next year, and I want to take advantage of any competitive hockey I can get. Therefore, I am all in.

A single night where the Flames win and the Jets lose makes such a massive difference. Of course, the opposite happening more or less puts this out of sight.

there is nothing about this team that inspires any confidence that they can win at a .800 clip to give themselves a chance. those vancouver games will not be easy.

That ‘s actually not true, it’s just the way it’s presented during the season.
If for some reason the season had to end today, the standings would be based on winning percentage.
If you chose to believe your team is better than another because you have one more point than another team, even though they have 3 games in hand, it’s clear that you are only fooling yourself.

No, it would be based on Points %. The scenerio would be the other team has a higher P% based on one point behind in 3 game in hand. Whether their Winning % is higher or not is irrevelvant, it's point that matter.
Vancouver is 8 points behind the Flames with only 1 game in hand but have a better winning % (46.6% vs 44.6%). Winning percentage doesn't matter in the standings in an NHL where an OTL is worth points but considered a loss.

Yeah....the Flames are almost a historically bad team at overtime. The record is 18, and the Flames have 15 OT losses so far.
We know that.

Lol the day the season actually ends the standings will still be based on points. Otherwise it's points percentage.
Flames had more wins than Montreal 2 years ago....Flames missed the playoffs and they went to the finals
An OTL is .500...one of two points it's not that complicated. Don't like it? Cry to Gary not the optimisum thread.
