On the other side of that you could argue they're due for a slide/lull
How motivated will they be into the final 5 games

Now would be the time for Huberdeau to shake off the lack of confidence and go on a massive heater.

The craziest thing is that the Flames are not out of it. They should be, but they are not.

record over the last last 8 games
Winnipeg last 8 games 4-4-0 8 pts
Flames last 8 games 4-2-2 10 pts
Nashville 3-4-1 7pts.
Winnipeg is leaving the door wide open.

The Flames' toughest opponent is the upcoming game tomorrow against the Kings. A win here is massive.
After that, the only team they face in a playoff spot is the Jets themselves.

Need to go 7-1 to have any shot. And then still need serious help. Winnipeg's sched is easy.

my dream scenario - Flames make it into 2nd WC spot and upset LV; E=NG drop to first WC and play the Avs who dummy them in 4.

The Jets are crashing hard and the two matchups against the Sharks are the only games they have a good chance of winning. If the Flames don't take advantage, maybe the Predators will even with their difficult schedule.

If they beat the Kings, this is anyone's game and I would even go so far to say that the flames will be even or ahead in points with the Jets going into their head to head.

Canucks are hot as any team. Both VAN and LA are on rolls.
Next two games will determine the season.
Win both and you'll have your chance to rope Winnipleg in with that head to head with an easier remaining schedule.
3/4 points and you probably have life
Win one and lose one and you need serious help and pretty much can't lose another game. On mathematical life support.
1 point or less and it's over-over.

4/5 of 6 points in the next 3 games is doable. I really hope we can show up against LA tomorrow. Even if we grab a point. Vancouver has been rolling, so I can't call it an easy win anymore unfortunately. We have our work cut out but this team has surprised us before. And as mentioned here already, the Jets continue to leave the playoff door unlocked for Calgary to barge in.

Need 5 or 6 IMO, if you want any kind of realistic playoff chance

Not necessarily a "heater" but 9 points in his last 12 games at 5v5 leads the team.
Puts him about top 20 in the NHL in that time and puts him in line with what his 5v5 point production was in Florida (0.65 PPG at 5v5 in Florida).
Now just need to get him going on the PP.

Calgary just isn’t playing that well lately. That Sharks game was ugly. Hopefully they can pick up the pace and play with more jam and urgency in these remaining games. They have a chance if they want it. I’m legitimately not sure they do, based on their play of late.

After being humiliated by LA, I sure hope Flames show up.

Winnipeg plays Colorado, Minnesota, the Flames, the Devils, and the Predators. That's not especially easy and only becomes easier if they can beat the teams that are chasing them.

Noted. But if they go 3-5, we still have to go 5-2-1. Which is doable I guess. My main point is we need to play well and need lots of help.

That would mean, Flames winning 3 of 4 or 4 of 4
While Jets lose against Sharks, Wings and Devils.
Flames heading into Jets game this will be their 4 game in 6 nights (tired team)
Its not the opponent rather is the amount of games in a short period

No matter what they'll need help, and some bad teams to have inspired efforts.
And we need the Flames to do something they haven't all season.. string some games together
On the other hand I think they are due for such an anomaly/streak given that they have the roster to be capable of that
I think even most bottom feeders have had a streak somewhere
The Flames' consistent inconsistency is an aberration in itself
