Oilers fans: "Everybody wants to sign here!"

Flames fans: "Nobody wants to sign here!"

Not sure which is worse some days.

Edmonton, obviously.

Can we please stop talking about Adam Fox? Holy. It's like talking about your ex that dumped. It's tiresome.

I wonder how some of you have relationships.

Or, it's like droning on and on about the opponent you beat in the "historic" 2016 Election five years later.

Players taken at 13th between 2000 and 2017 (it's too early to tell re. guys taken later than that):

2017 - Nick Suzuki (127 games)
2016 - Jake Bean (44 games)
2015 - Jakub Zboril (44 games)
2014 - Jakub Vrana (284)
2013 - Josh Morrissey (344),
2012 - Radek Faksa (406),
2011 Sven Baertschi (uh oh - still had 291 games played)
2010 - Brandon Gormley (58 games - curiously, the pick the Flames gave up in the Olle Jokinen deal)
2009 - Zack Kassian (552)
2008 - Colton Teubert (58)
2007 - Lars Eller (798)
2006 - Jiri Tlusty (446)
2005 - Marek Zagrapan (0)
2004 - Drew Stafford (841)
2003 - Dustin Brown (1232)
2002 - Alexander Semin (650)
2001 - Ales Hemsky (845)
2000 - Ron Hainsey (1132)

Over the course of 18 years, some of them not even occurring during the post-lockout era, there've been hree busts (Zagrapan, Gormley & Teubert), two or three disappointments (Tlusty, Baertschi, maybe Zboril), eleven successes, and one vomit-inducing guy (Kassian).

13 isn't a bad spot at all, with 61 % of players taken there between 2000 & 2017 having solid careers or starts to their career, and then another 16% at least being somewhat serviceable.

Given that no college commit has ditched a Canadian team in however long, it's unlikely that there's a 39% chance Coronato bails, much less a 50% one.

if we're talking camp, Gaudreau-Bennett-Ferland was a heckuva kid line during the 2014 preseason. Bennett gets shoulder surgery and Ferland gets a concussion that year, but maybe in another timeline those three are still a line.

this looks like organization driven damage control after Eric Francis publically brought up the Adam Fox parallel

Based on the somewhat forced, artificial and awkward tone, I tend to agree.

Or he could just be like Monahan.

I watched some pre-draft interviews with him and it seems like he just has kind of a flat affect. Which is kind of odd because his game is pretty bombastic from the scouting videos.

This kid comes to play all day. I predict a big WJC for him. They probably defend. He then rides that to a big freshman season and goes back for one more year to win a honey baker. Then we sign him a la gaudreau and he becomes a regular fixture on our team.

He is a fascinating blend of determination and skill. Plus being right handed he will really give our prospect pool something we don’t tally boast.

This kid is gonna play many games for this team. He won’t bail. Plus we have a good history with goal scoring wingers from his neck of the woods. Send him a joe Mullen highlight reel AC! Jks

He’s going to Harvard so probably a given that is a very intelligent young man.
