Told the Gaudreau surgery went as well as could be expected. Time line for return still unsure. Will know more in next few days.

That's a lie.
I have it on good authority they had to amputate Johnny's hand and it has been replaced with a hook.
Johnny Hockey no more. Johnny Hookhand is his new moniker.

Hooks are made for dangling.

It's not a hand-pass if it's off the hook.

Well, that sucks. Johnny is going to be a liability with all his hooking calls.

Has been established Johnny Gaudreau's finger was broken on Eric Staal slash. If so, why is Staal not being called on the carpet by NHL?

3. They are sending Johnny a message, for whatever reason, that at the moment they don't have his back.

I was thinking about this today, seems really odd that the teams not sticking up for Johnny since the start of the season. I few games back one team kept pushing Johnny down, but no one came to his aid.

Conroy tells Flames TV that they believe Johnny is targeted to the point that it is ridiculous and you can count 4-5 slashes in one shift.

He also touches on the Heat.

It goes back to last season. I don't usually make reference to my own posts but here we go:

This group doesn't defend each other often enough; it's one of my many disappointments with them this season. Off the ice they seem close but on it, you often can't tell.
You just can't let other teams get away with dirty plays on your best skater. It's ridiculous.

Johnny's been bad, but at least I see the effort level. I want to scream when he takes hacks and whacks and abuse and no one on the team does a single thing about it. The smallest, most skilled player gets ganged up every damn game. Someone needs to grow a pair

In fact, read this game thread around posts 60-80
Multiple mentions of Johnny being slashed with no response from this Flames team. Gio and our other so-called leaders didn't do anything then, not surprised they didn't do/say anything now.

4 or 5 slashes in one shift is ridiculous, how is Johnny going to protect his healing finger when comes back? If his team doesn't have his back he can't count on a bunch of incompetent refs to do their jobs.

He needs some Kevlar composite compound in his gloves or something, if the Flames aren't going to do anything he needs some more durable gloves. The other teams figured it out; we can't catch him but the refs aren't calling slashes so slash away.

Based on the chippyness and toughness by several players tonight I'd bet the team addressed this issue today.
Notably Engeland, Ferlund, Backlund, Hathaway and Wideman (lol) were throwing their weight around and/or being chippy. I liked it.

I had my middle metacarpal broken from a crosscheck 3 weeks ago this Thursday.
It feels pretty great again already thankfully. No surgery, just casts.
I know players in the past have played with broken fingers earlier than expected with some bracing. But you just know he'll have his fingers targeted his first game back.
