Both of these guys have been overrated over the years. Both in their primes were good not great players and past their prime are turning into role players rather than difference makers they are paid to be.

Kings had 25 playoff wins in the 20 years up to 2011.

Nash had an off year and still had 26 goals in 65 games, he was also nearly a PPG player last season. He may not be the same player he once was, but he's far from a "role player".

True, he did have 26 goals and all of 39 points this year. Only really impressive that he can be so one dimensional. And incredibly bad return for $7.8M. He's been paid like a franchise player (over $6M/yr) for the past 6 years and has only performed at that level once. That's the definition of overrated. And to make matters worse, he's signed for 4 more years at $8M/yr. That'll be an albatross of a contract that will be hard to get rid of.

Sather seems to have a knack for making good trades with the terrible contracts he signs. If he can turn Gomez into McDonagh I'm sure he'll find some way to dump Nash

Yeah. I get that. I'd just rather the Flames not be the doormat for another 20.
The hockey itself blew in the 80's (anyone who remembers otherwise is wrong) but damn it was fun to always be near the top. To always have a shot

Rick Nash has traditionally been a very good goal-scorer in the NHL, while never being truly exceptional, and never ever being a good assist producer. Goals are gold in the NHL and are very much worth paying for, however, since tying Iginla for the Maurice Richard in 2004, Nash has been a top-ten goal scorer twice, and a top twenty goal scorer three more times. Once he was 28th and three times he's finished outside the top-30.
Compared to Iginla, a truly elite-goal scoring forward, Iginla has two top ten finishes since 2004 (both 3rds, higher than Nash's best - a 5th place) and six top-twenty finishes. Only one time since '04 has he not been one of the twenty best goal-scorers in the NHL.
Rick Nash is a very, very good hockey player who is well worth the second or third highest contract on any given team, but should not ever be expected to be the best player on an NHL team.
Given that he's got the highest cap-hit on the Rangers, and the second-highest salary in real dollars (and his real-money salary goes UP over the next four years) it's pretty clear that Rick Nash is overpaid.

Can confirm that Rick Nash is indeed overrated.
Also, was never a "franchise" player. CBJ treated him like one, but he couldn't carry the team on his back to anything significant over a large span of time. Now he's with a far better supporting cast and seems to be contributing half as much as he did on a perennial #### team. He can produce, but most certainly isn't the game breaking type.

Thank-you!
I watched the second half of the game today (double OT so good thing I did) and she reminded me of someone - couldn't figure who though.

Rick Nash can't be judged on his contract too harshly. There's a million dollar premium attached that sucker that is about the opposite of a 'home town discount'. It's the 'Be the only good player on your team for your entire career and never make the playoffs with columbus' premium.

It's called cherry picking a timeline. What are the in win totals over the last 30 years. I bet the Oilers and Flames have more than the Kings.

LA live is a restaurant, club, concert and entertainment area adjacent to Staples Center. There's a large courtyard that all the restaurants and clubs surround. They set up a large screen and seating for the game. In 2012, NBC would not allow the road games to be broadcast inside Staples Center.

God, I hate how CBC streaming plays their advertisements flawlessly, but the game it's self is so bloody choppy. Sigh, I guess I shouldn't whine as at least they stream them.

Rick Nash has hands-down been the most overrated player the last decade. I find guys in markets no one bothers to watch escape all criticism. How he was deemed a franchise player with that lack of team success and getting 55-60 points a year was a mystery.
