Good on Luongo for being a good sport at being the backup. He's not a cutthroat wanting to get back in like a Roy or Brodeur have been in the past.

I honestly don't get why anyone could dislike Luongo outside of the team he plays for. He's probably become one of my favorite players in the league. Hopefully he wins a cup eventually... just not in Vancouver.

Meanwhile the US has improved with Kane Kessel and Suter elite NHLers now.
I'm thinking 4-1 or 3-0 USA.

They destroyed Slovania you know, that was the real test

Where's that poster who said to "expect" 3 or 4-1 USA result today?

Oh man this is too sweet. Just a flawlessly played game from the Canadians.

This is so stupid. What good would Bobby Ryan have done in this game? Team USA needed a handful of better players to win this one. As I figured, their offensive prowess in this tournament was masked by the much, MUCH lower level of competition they have faced since they arrived in Sochi.

Sweden must be worried.

Yeah I was so hoping the Canucks would trade Luongo and keep Schneider. I only "dislike" him with the teal jersey on, otherwise he's an extremely likeable guy.

I think that it was more a function of the defensive chessmatch that Canada was playing.

I'm sure Bylsma drilled it into his players not to get out of position looking for the big hit, for fear that Canada would take advantage of any positional error.

Bouwmeester did make a heck of a pass, but Benn's tip was superb.

Bouwmeester has played pretty well for Canada in his career.

Too bad it didn't work out in Calgary, he was exactly what St-Louis needed though.

Excellent game by Team Canada. They were so good at closing gaps and taking time and space away from the US. It almost looked effortless they were so efficient in their game. Outside of a few chances I don't think the US had much of anything in the way of meaningful offense.

Great game to watch.

They're not bad, and don't get me wrong, I still like watching Finland play and I like cheering for the little countries like Slovenia and Austria this year. But it would be a lot more interesting if it was a little more about "I wonder who wins", and not "I wonder if someone can beat Canada".

Also don't you think you're getting a little ahead of yourself? Sweden hasn't lost yet, and it's the gold medal game, anything can happen.
Not really, no. Of course anything can happen in a one-off, but really unless Price let's in a couple of softies to make it interesting, I don't see Sunday being close in anything but the score (which will probably be low like today).

The only reason I give Sweden a chance is their strong PP.

Great game despite the low score. Love 1-0 games.

Our D (and forwards' D play) was amazing. Price played great - Kipper-esque rebounds.

Sweden will be tough, but for some reason, I prefer playing them to Finland.

The Americans deserve a bit more credit then we're giving them. It's not like they made an abundance of mistakes either. One great play by Bouwmeester to Benn sealed Canada the game.

Bobby Ryan?

The guy with 3 goals and 4 assists in 17 games since the roster was announced...

Good point, Yandle was terrible as well since the team was chosen. This was honestly the best the US could do. Outside of missing Paul Martin their team was 100% healthy, and iced their best possible lineup against the Canadians.

I feel Sweden is going to be a tougher threat than the U.S. They and Canada have been the two most composed teams defensively. Have fun with the Finns Murrica, they are a tough team to play!
