Talk about a lack of tolerance/empathy. Guy has an attraction to children. Recognizes it and does not act on it. Commendable if anything, it is not like he would choose that attraction if he had a choice.

Sorry I can't defend this guy. If he was abused as a child he should be interested in breaking the chain of abuse instead of accepting he wants to have sex with a minor. He may be able to control himself in a normal situation but I have doubts he would not act given the opportunity or if he was under the influence. He needs to get real help to deal with his trauma from childhood.

Why does the guy need a defence? He stated that he was attracted to minors. He also stated that he would never harm a minor and explained what it was like to live like that and his personal story leading up to it.
I don't understand what you or the other guy are looking to accomplish here beyond telling everyone that you think its "gross" and "disgusting". Nobody here is looking to make sex between adults and children a normal or benign thing.
The guy wouldn't choose to have this sexual preference. The fact that he has it doesn't make him a monster, that is reserved for those who act upon it. Talking about it and trying to understand how such things come into being is much more helpful than being content in condemning it.

The whole point he's making is that he wants and needs help, but there isn't any because everyone automatically treats him like a villain when he tries to talk about his problem. The only help there is is with people who share his problem, and that's hardly a great source for any sort of objectivity.
There's nothing to defend. He hasn't, if you believe him - and if he's out of the closet with THIS, what do you think he's lying about? - done anything wrong. No child porn, no cases of any wrong doings with children. He recognizes he has an issue and wants to get help, but because people like you react this way, he can't. You agree that he should seek help, so what exactly is your problem here?
What if this was a psychopath, who came forward and said "I have fantasies about murdering people. Please give me the help I need."? Would you react the same way? Don't accept that you want to harm people. Just have it dealt with. What does that even mean?
