Glencross is extremely frustrating. When he's on, he's really good, but when he's not, he looks extremely lazy and bad.
He's like a poor man's Rene Bourque. Or maybe he's a rich man's Rene Bourque. I don't know.
I think the same could be said for Iggy too.
I don't know what it is with the current era of big power forward wingers we have on this team. They all seem to do this. I don't remember Gary Roberts taking any shifts off, nevermind nights off.

Why would I be bitter? I haven't expected playoffs in years.. I keep watching, cause I"m a Flames fan.

Glencross definitely has his off nights, but comparing him to Rene Bourque is just wrong.

I know you are trolling but I'll humor you anyways. What you describe is being a bandwagon fan. Most bandwagon fans don't care enough about the team to post on a fan made message board for said team. I would venture a guess that 99% of posters on this board, myself included will watch the games no matter how bad the team is.

#Flames forward Roman Cervenka is once again missing from practice. This would be another 'maintenance' day?

That was the worst I have seen Kipper play in a long time. I am really excited to see what Hudler/Cevenka/Stajan are going to do this year. The other guys need to get going. Especially Cammy.

I had season tickets during the Young Guns years so I'm not going anywhere. Quite frankly I was bitter a few years ago when the plight of the team was evident and the time was right to blow it up and maximize assets. Three years later I have just accepted that I can't control owners that don't understand how to run the on-ice part of a hockey team successfully much like as a Raiders fan I was helpless to watch Al Davis draft track stars every year and sign players that didn't love football to big contracts. I waited out Al Davis and I will patiently wait out the Flames owership's misguided, and pathetic attempts at holding on to something that came and went in 2004.
It's the bandwagon fans that will lose interest and unfortunately those are the ones the owners are terrified of losing which is why they continue to prolong the inevitable in hopes of keeping the building full. Flames ownership like the Leafs long ago gave up on winning a championship. They are all about selling seats. As long as finishing 10th results in sellouts why attempt to build a championship team that during the process comes with the risk of finishing 14/15 and having a 2/3 full building? It's pretty obvious by now that as far as Flames ownerhip goes it's all about keeping customers and selling a new building to the city in which they can make more money from said customers.

I was only trolling in the manner I phrased it. I am actually serious about this because I've noticed it happening in two cases now: Senators fans, and Flames fans.
When the team is good, the fans have something to derive hockey enjoyment from: a relevant team, wins, etc. They dislike their team's rivals but are more concerned with beating them than watching how they do on out of town games. I.e., a Senators fan right now is generally more interested in the lineup against the Hurricanes than whether the Leafs are losing. That wasn't so when the Leafs were decent - I had a bunch of friends who were Sens fans when I was in school and in the years their team was bad they seemed to care a lot more about the Leafs losing. Once the team got good, they stopped caring so much.
Similarly with Flames fans in recent years. There is an incredible amount of acerbic bitterness among hockey fans in this city nowadays. There's not much to be happy about or enjoy in hockey if you're a Flames fan, and so the majority of Flames fans' hockey fix seems to come from pure schadenfreude. It's been noticeably on the rise the longer this reign of mediocrity continues.
I actually don't agree at all that this is a "bandwagoner" issue. Bandwagoners would not let hockey losses impact their mood or demeanor. Bandwagoners simply stop caring about hockey altogether when the team isn't doing well, and suddenly become raving "GO FLAMES GO" chanting fans once they make the playoffs. The aforementioned phenomenon is actually stronger among die-hards.

I'm kind of enthused about the team. I really like the way they play compared to the past few years...flat-out fast, better puck control, many drop passes, taking chances, etc.. It makes for much better hockey to watch. I think with better goal tending, and the odd trade, this team could do well.

I'm glad they've re-worked the other two scoring lines. Gotta try something.

I would think that, as a Nucks fan, you would be personally familiar with the situation you reference.

Fair enough, but honestly how many Flames fans do you know that actually stop watching Flames hockey because the team is losing? Yes I am still bitter about this team this season (I'll come to terms with it after another couple losses) but I'll keep watching, I'll keep cheering, I'll keep getting excited when a young player makes an amazing play or gets a goal.
Of course a fanbase will be happier and cheer harder when there team is winning, what proof do you have that people stop watching Flames hockey or stop caring about the team when they are not doing well. You must have something because you claim it as a phenomenon.
Again you are posting on a fan made message board, generally if people take the time to partake in conversations on this board odds are they are with the team through thick and thin. I doubt you will find many examples of your theory here.
