Yes giving them a 2nd ? Why?

Mangipane is whatever. It gets them a roster player and gets them cap space now and in free agency when his deal expires.

Again we are rebuilding. We can’t be trading prospect and high picks for projects or broken players.
Potential is the key word when it comes to Poirier
I'm still of the belief his defensive game is so bad he'll never play regularly in the NHL. I think his potential is best served in trade value.

Laine is the best player in the deal regardless of any circumstances. The 2nd add on is fair value for the gifts Laine presents and frankly the Flames need.

TJ Brodie was kind of like that.

I understand Mangiapane's 5 on 5 metrics are good and he has value, sure. But 1 for 1 for Laine? No chance in hell

Andersson + Mangiapane for Laine is 100% a trigger I’d pull.

We’d have no defence, but have Laine and Kuzmenko up front? That’s a hell of a fun team to watch through the dark days. We’d get to enjoy 6-5 losses rather than 3-2!

Yikes, Laine is being overrated.

Andersson >>> Laine

Why Laine? I’m really struggling to figure out why he’s such a target here for this team, at this time, and what they SHOULD be doing?

Let others play risk with a rebound on Laine. Furthermore his value is not great, IMO. I’d be buying low if at all.

Nice that Huberdeau wants out. Bet you could get something for him and eat some salary retention there if Calgary was actually serious about moving him out. Also what does “heat in the kitchen” even mean?

Post 4904 discussion kinda starts there. Maybe semantics, willing to waive and wanting out could be different things but, really, not really. I’d prefer to have a team where the people on it aren’t indifferent if they’re being paid millions but what do I know.

I bet this is true but I bet the value is somewhat minimal. For example people will be taking contracts based on location and $$$. “Value” can be a debatable term. I bet it’s one of those “nice to have perks” kinda thing but it’s not like people are fawning over themselves about it.

Regardless it is a good quality about the Flames and is classy / shows class.

From an asset standpoint that is a horrendous move for the Flames unless Laine all of a sudden becomes a different player than he has been over the past 4-5 years.

Andersson would be better to hold onto and flip for futures than move in a hockey trade for a winger

Why are people discussing Laine? We have absolutely no need for him, he is not a fit here.

It makes zero sense.

I’m curious if you can expand on this if possible? You mention the above but the a few posts later say you don’t think Laine would come here.

I’m curious what kind of value we are talking about here with the NHLPA. Does the flames treatment of Kylington give indication that players in general would be more favourable to become Flames than they used to be?

You have been in the rebuild camp and propose this ?

This would essentially put a dagger in the rebuild. Moving out 2 pieces who can get us future pieces.

This is what happens when a big name hits the market and to a lesser extent a player like Necas.

Overpaid , unproductive , 26 and only 2 years of control ?

How does this fit the Flames S/M/L term goals at all unless his salary completely sinks his value and we are picking up for Pennie’s on the dollar

Yeah, I'm shocked posters on here are willing to give up significant assets to acquire Laine, considering we're rebuilding. Especially surprised at Comixzone.

Sec, quoting not working, but how sure are you of Marner not moving this off-season? He's a fragile guy who takes things very personally. So while his agent and him probably want the huge point totals pairing with Matthews, there are long memories and he'll be the scapegoat the second the season starts. It weighs on you and he's probably among the worst on hiding his displeasure at brushing of critique. If he goes into UFA status and signs with another team he can only sign for 7 years. So depending how important that 8th year is to him I'd imagine a sign and trade to the right team benefits everyone, if something can be worked out.

Just saw Dreger say no way he is traded and he won’t waive his NMC.

Yeah, the Laine talk is crazy. The only proposal that makes any sense for the Flames is Laine for Huberdeau. And I can't see CBJ biting on that.
