He's not wrong though. Buffalo is a dump. On Saturday nights, young people from Buffalo like to go somewhere nice, like Hamilton to hang out.

I'd rather have Hayes.

I see the Score has just put out what everyone has known for awhile. Shattenkirk is in play on the trade market

I agree. I moved to Burlington this summer and they just opened an Anchor Bar here based on the one in Buffalo.

Well, he's not overly physical, but I think he could help the power play. Also, a right-handed shot.
It's not that the Blues don't want to keep Shattenkirk around, Custance writes, it's that his contract - with a cap hit of $4.25 million - is up after the 2016-17 season, and the Blues are on a budget. Long-term salaries for Alex Pietrangelo - signed through 2019-20 at a cap hit of $6.5 million - and Jay Bouwmeester - locked up through 2018-19 at $5.4 million against the cap - are complicating matters.
Since Shattenkirk isn't a rental, he could play out the season in St. Louis, Custance adds, with the team potentially exploring an offseason trade. Either way, the soon-to-be 27-year-old will be a hot commodity as a right-handed shot who can work a power play.
Edit - I should know better than to try to beat Sureloss

@JSB_FOX: Heard from a source close to the trade that NYR Emerson Etem is on the way to Vancouver in a player + pick deal. #NHL

Benning has a... unique management style. If you trade enough picks for burn out prospects, some are bound to become decent players just by random chance I guess.

He certainly seems to be one of those bargain shoppers trying to unearth a gem from other teams castoffs. Maybe he will strike gold one day. Or maybe not.

Canucks have lacked young players due to the horrible draft record of Gillis. Benning has tried to begrudge the gap by trading 2nd rounders for players in their early 20's. So far not so good

No he's not. How highly is he really rated? Seems like a solid 1B type goalie. He has pretty good numbers this year despite no wins.

Many think he is better than a 1B, hence the overrating.

Two motivated 1b goalies worked for the Flames last year.

I may be mistaken but our goaltenders did get wins yes, but our team had to score a lot of goals.
