I don't think there is a ton of money being left on the table. How many people in Canada actually have the current kit. Its a team coming from the wilderness and barely anyone has merch. They can update for the next run.

I'm not sure if you saw, but there was a lot of fuss during the qualifying round because all of a sudden thousands of people wanted to buy the jersey but couldn't because of lack of stock/retailers. TBH I don't know if that situation has been rectified or not because I'm still rocking my 15 year old jersey I got during the 2007 u20 world cup. Anyway the influx of new fans meant a lot of people wanted to buy gear but couldn't and that may still be ongoing.

They have stock now, but lost out on thousands of sales during CONCACAF qualifying, I expect.

None of the local soccer stores have ever cared enough about the national team to carry national team jerseys. Hard to scale up to meet the sudden rapid rise in demand that wasn't there even 12 months ago...
I'm actually stopping by Kicks in a bit so I'll let people know if they have any, or if it's just the usual super clubs in stock.

My buddy is the owner of World of Soccer, right next to the Subway Soccer Centre on 52nd. It's not that they don't want to support our National team, it's that they literally cannot get Canadian jerseys right now. I tried a couple weeks ago with him, and he can't get any. Huge shortage.
As an aside...check out that store if you ever need anything; it's awesome.

I like the current kits but they are a bit plain. I would've loved a WC kit. It's a memorable moment.

I've been. They've never had anything from the national team any time I've gone in. Before the World Cup run no one wanted Canadian national team jerseys so no one carried them. Now people want them and they can't get them.
Not trying to #### on World of Soccer but it's the same story as all soccer retailers in the city. Only wanted to sell them when it was too late.

Well that’s just trials and tribulations of retailers? Like they spend a few thousand bucks on shirts that don’t sell, and they’re stuck with them. Suddenly, there’s demand and of course they want to sell them, because they can actually sell them.

This is a downer. Atiba will be on the plane to Qatar no matter what, just hope he is healthy and contribute. End of October is a later target than what was announced earlier this week and doesn't give a lot of time before the World Cup

Now that it's confirmed there's no new kit, I tried to order the kit from the official online store, but they don't ship outside of Canada!
I also tried ordering directly from Nike but the online store here only sells the national kits of a handful of countries and Canada is not one of them.
I guess I'll have to order to my folks' place in Calgary and arrange intentional shipment from there and hope I receive it in time before I make my way to Doha in November.
Seems like a missed opportunity for foreign collectors and potentially new fans abroad to be able to buy Canada merch.

Not sure how common that jersey was but it’s possible we played together in the 90s.

I saw it and immediately thought of the keeper on my team through most of the 90s too. Don't remember the pink gloves though so maybe not the same.

CSA doesn't pull the strings, they just take a cash payment from the CSB. Surprised the CSB didn't get on this, but they are fully in bed with the CPL and Macron.
But yeah, a new kit and training gear and various other merch for a WC should be mandatory for all countries and should've been planned for almost a year, but Canada is likely on the bottom of the Nike totem pole and has been for a while.

Goaltender wearing six studs? Savage.
Finally, Westhead thankfully continues his pushing of the CSA/CSB backroom deal back.
https://www.tsn.ca/rick-westhead-men...-say-1.1851271
A month since the players asked for a deal, maybe a bit rich but no response from the CSA except usual lawyer speak and bringing up the point of $3.5M in ticket revenue (really? that much for Iran? math doesn't work out there) lost for the friendly the MNT didn't play.
And CSA hasn't given the players a copy of the CSB agreement, struck under cloak of darkness years ago.
