If Dubois and Tkatchuk are gone who is the power forward target at 6? I keep hearing Brown isn't physical despite his size, jokes aside he's a better Colborne. It's well and good to prefer to pick a PF at 6 but is there one available?
Probably nobody. If Tkachuk/Dubois are gone then IMO the BPA would probably be a defenceman. I don't think the Flames are looking to force a powerforward. But I do think if they take a winger top 6, it would have to be a powerforward due to their rarity, their value, and our short term and long term need for them.
I want Nylander more now. You can't fault a guy for being in awesome shape????
Maybe he's a methodical player instead of a Ferland type that hits everything and is all over the ice but doesn't really do much where it counts. There's no talent needed to skate around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
Man, the stigma that his last name carries is ridiculous.
It's not just the name. William and Alexander's dad has been badly meddling in their development, moving them on an off teams and pushing to be an assistant coach wherever they play. It was Swedish media who first started raising the issue, and I don't think there was any kind of anti Michael Nylander sentiment in Sweden before that.

It cuts both ways I think. A prospect in top shape shows dedication and commitment. A prospect in less than ideal shape may actually have another gear if their fitness issues are addressed (see Andersson, Rasmus). Of course, they may never address these issues (see Medvedev, Andrei).
Looking at the photo on TSN, Nylander looks compatible in height to all other top prospects. He certainly has some meet to him too. Not sure size is an issue for him
Now that I know he's AHL eligible and he's in tip top shape, that's a huge bonus. The AHL for Stockton offers a lot of gym and practice time, so a top prospect like Nylander doesn't need to go back to the junior grind of potting a lot of goals and riding the bus.
Even though he's in good athletic shape, he still needs mass at 6'0.5 and 179lbs. That's gym time and being closer to Flames trainers.
He's still my favorite at #6 alone due to being right handed and super fast and skilled.

He only had 28 goals in 57 games this season, and 75 points.
Should the Flames take him, I hope he does go back to junior for another year. I feel like he should dominate at that level before turning pro.
E-Mac starting to churn out more profiles; what do you think of any of these as potentials for the Flames?
(I'd personally be pretty happy to land Dahlen and Johansen if they last to us in the 2nd rnd)
Benning on the Gudbranson trade and the draft. Basically straight up admits that after the top 3 they have two forwards who they believe will be 1st liners (widely speculated to be Tkachuk/Dubois) and a defenseman in their top 6. He says he thinks they'll get a 1st liner so it sounds like they are leaning towards one of the forwards. The questioner asks him about Chychrun/Sergachev and not Juolevi but Benning doesn't bite and doesn't really talk about the defenseman.
