It's all based on information that's all already publicly out there, so the app itself isn't anything new. I mean the first thing I do with new tenant applications is find everything I can about them online (it's great for prospective landlords!).
It's just the speed of access that makes it a bit more creepy... But someone in public shouldn't have any expectation of privacy should they?
Or maybe we need laws around it, that people in public SHOULD have some expected level of anonymity?

Shouldn't need to go that far! Everything in the video should be available in Calgary except for probably the crab roe noodles which is a pretty unique dish, and I guess the Michelin level Sichuan restaurant but Calgary should have Sichuan restaurants and that fish stew dish they had is a standard at all Sichuan places.
I can't say I have ever had actual fine dining Chinese food. I do like the standard western Chinese diner/fast food though. I started learning to make a lot of it at home now, with varying results. I would dare say that my beef and broccoli is on par with decent restaurants, but for some reason I can't get the fried rice right. It seems like it should be easy.
One thing I would say for anyone making Sichuan dishes at home, it pays to make your own chili oil from scratch. It's actually pretty easy and makes a big difference.

Well, I don't recall seeing anything in that video that would be considered fine dining. All the food looked great, but I guess it depends what you consider to be fine dining. If you've ever been to a Chinese wedding with their banquet-style meal at a Chinese restaurant, many would consider the food served there to be fine dining. Standard is an 8 or 9 course meal that are served one or two at a time after each other for a reason. Some also feel that the ambiance of a restaurant matters as well, in order for the package to be considered fine dining. I'm unaware of any places in Calgary that offer that level of an experience, but in Vancouver and Toronto, Mott 32 would be an example of high end ingredients, high end ambiance and experience.
Below is an example of a fine dining restaurant in China, as experienced by a couple of non-Chinese guys who likely also love "Chinese food", like the beef and broccoli you mentioned, from the west! The neat thing though with western Chinese food is that it has its place in the massive world of Chinese food given the deep roots it has laid thanks to the first waves of Chinese immigrants from southern China who opened up Chinese restaurants all across cities (and even small towns!) in North America (my dad being one of them). Even with people like me, who are North America-born, but prefer traditional Chinese food, enjoy the western-style Chinese food once in a while given the different flavor profiles (which were adjusted from traditional profiles by the innovative Chinese chefs to cater better to western palettes in order for their restaurant to survive) as its also part of our upbringing and nostalgia is a big part of food for people. Last time I was in Guangzhou in China, there was actually a popular restaurant that only served western-style Chinese food, opened by a North American-born Chinese guy and it's quite popular as the locals who have never been overseas have never experienced it before!

I like the idea and would support breathalyzer tests being implemented here for anyone driving a public vehicle like bus, etc. Pretty neat idea. Not sure about the video from wifey though as I could see that turning into annoying reminders about stuff to pick up after work!
