The radio broadcasts were especially fantastic. It was a great presentation of Tyreese's feelings toward what the group had to do to survive. It was a neat way to describe the group's actions from a perspective that presents them as something other than the protagonists ("then terrorizing the village by night, carrying out revenge attacks involving hacking innocents with machetes and, in some cases, setting them on fire")
The walking dead indeed
edit: the more I think about it, the more I realize that the broadcasts are describing all the horrors of the world that is, not just what Rick's group has done.

A lot of the episode made little sense as to what they were driving at until I turned it off and pondered it. For that I give it credit, trying to express something deeper than hack and slash. Did they totally hit the mark, not really, but I respect them trying to make the show more about he group and how they aren't all cut out to survive. The toll of living has killed them slowly and now it doesn't matter who kills anymore just that it gets done.

Fair enough. Like I said, I enjoy trying to figure out stuff like that. I like symbolism. But it was like they were trying to beat us over the head with it. Constant repetition. 'Pay attention to this, it's important!' Good foreshadowing should be much more subtle that that. If that's what it was.
I do like some of both of your insights. I'm definitely looking even deeper now. Still doesn't sit great with me. They coulda done it better, if that was what they were truly going for.
And based on the past writing, I'm not sure they'd write it like that. Not sure they are even capable of it.
Touching on Tyrese's death, the whole episode and 'dream' sequence probably woulda meant more if they truly developed his character. And would give importance to your insights. But Tyrese never became someone truly fleshed out. (A large majority of the characters seem two dimensional.) So not only was his death a 'meh', but any important symbolism gets gets glossed over, because there is no investment in the character
Why do I care about him figuring it out in his dream sequence? And why make a passable character suddenly so insightful and important?

It's simple, Tyrese wasn't cut out for this world anymore. As they said on the talking dead after, when they were at the prison he said he couldn't kill the walkers on the fence and then they go out into the world and he says he can't kill out there either. He couldn't kill the termite when Judith's life was in danger, and clearly that ate at him since that guy was in his hallucination.
Fun fact, the guy doing the radio broadcast was Andy Lincoln.

If it hasn't appeared or been referenced in aired episodes please refrain from introducing it in the thread.
I've heard things from comic readers about this show and where it may be headed, but I would never voluntarily spoil or pollute this thread with those details.
As far as I know, the character you are talking about has never been brought up in the TV show. I've never heard that name before.

Agreed, I know nothing of the comics and don't know anyone that reads them (or is they do they don't tell me).
It is pretty clear that this fella's actions are deliberate.

Just a quick question then,
what if that person 'who shall not be named' has been mentioned on talking dead? or are topics and characters on talking dead supposed to be in another thread as well?
fyi, I don't read the comics either, but have heard of that 'who shall not be named' as well on talking dead.

Well you wouldn't be able to say anything about him anyway, I don't believe they talked in depth about him on the talking dead.
Edit: And I just looked it up, Gimple was asked what his favourite rumour was and he said that Jon Hamm was cast as the person in question. So as the others have said, he more than likely is using his knowledge from the comic....Nothing to see here.

Also, the picture that Tyrese was bleeding on. Was that the house where the two girls died, and where Carol told him about his girlfriend? In that case, I assume that's kind of the point in Tyrese's life where he felt like "checking out". And I don't blame him. A lot of bad things happened at that house lol.

Fixed that for you. He hasn't been mentioned at all in the TV series, so why would you think it's ok to bring it up in the TV-only thread?

Don't care. It doesn't matter.
Do not talk about the comics in this thread. Not about what you've read/heard or anything.
Just the TV show.

Why did they kill off Tyrese? He was such a likeable character. Why couldn't it have been Glenn as I would cheer for that death.

I have a feeling all of those butchered bodies are going to tie back into the season finale. It appears as though that town got hit with something besides regular fire power, half of the houses were blown up. At this point I would expect to see bands of marauders, much easier to just take things from others than search yourself.
Hopefully we can make it that far without falling asleep though. Pick up the pace!

Really? I found him quite undeveloped. I thought he was basically forgotten by the writers for the most part. He had maybe a line or two of dialougue on average per episode and it was always just to remind us of how weak he was. Darryl takes all sorts of screen time from guys like Abraham and Tyrese. So much unrealized potential with those two...

I didn't feel he was weak at all. Very conflicted but not weak. He had his episodes with Carol last season and feel the show does a decent job of spreading things around. I am really worried that they are going to stretch this angry Glenn story for the entire season which is going to be hard to watch.

He was a liabity to the group. Didnt want to kill walkers though the fence because he was such a baby. I can understand humans, but zombies? They're trying to kill you FFS. Then he does a 180 when Karen was killed that he jeopardized everyone with his brooding after tries to beat the crap out of Rick for no reason. Until he gets over it randomly then it's back to being a big teddy bear. It was also annoying wheb Carol tells him she killed her and he instantly forgave her a couple seconds. Then he lets the cannibal nab Judith. When he gets her back, he lets him go which almost led to everybody's demise. He was a liability in the new harsh world. Even at the end, the way he died was just pathetic. Bitten by one 80 lb zombie that snuck up on him even though he noticed him earlier.
Agree on Glenn. Hasn't been interesting since season two when he hooked up with Maggie. He can go any time.

Lol looking at my post above. Where the hell was autocorrect when I needed it? Tries to change 50% of names I type in and changes 50% of typos into things that aren't even words then it misses words like 'over' and 'when' when I messed up one letter trying to type on a phone. Guess I could've put this in the WRGMG thread but man I hate autocorrect.

He saw Noah's brother earlier? Are you sure? If so, I must have missed that.

I thought he saw/heard him shuffling behind a door (from the crack at the bottom). I suppose it might have been just meant for the audience but I don't see how he wouldn't hear it. Dead silence and a walker shuffling around in the room beside him...

Lol. One of the mods is clearly awesome!
Mentioning a name that's already been mentioned on the talk show? The Walking Dead isn't even good enough that people should care THAT much about some character that may or may not even appear. Maybe if the writers picked up the slack then those things wouldn't come up in discussion. Show's getting boring again.
MOD edit: Thanks!
