Felix controls his own destiny as far as making the Turin finals is concerned, but if Nishioka beats Fritz in Vienna (Yoshi just won the opening set in a tie-break), that would make things just that much easier.

Really interested to see how FAA handles the deep fields in Basel, Paris and Turin after this fantastic run to close out the season. This is undoubtedly the most consistent stretch of tennis we've seen out of him.

Really good match between Fritz and Yoshi - Taylor just won set 2 in a tie-break (9-7 was the tie-breaker score) and thus we need a 3rd set.

Is Nadal playing in Turin? I assume Djokovic will... amazing that Medvedev is world #4 and isn't qualified.

Yes, Rafa will be playing in Paris as well as Turin. Meddy isn't officially qualified, but he's essentially there (some crazy things would need to happen to knock him out).

Fritz prevails 6-3 in the third set (was down a break to Yoshi, but really stepped up his play).
Edit: This is how close this match was (Taylor broke Yoshi's spirit on this shot)

Draper just won the opening set 6-3 over Carlitos in Basel.
Edit: Carlitos much better and Draper coming off the boil results in a 6-2 win for Alcaraz in set 2. Third set needed.

Okay, Draper and Alcaraz just had a whale of a match and Carlitos survives. Jack Draper is certainly one to watch going forward.

I don't recall - I know Genie Bouchard was very vocal about Maria though.

You can ask Genie about that in Calgary when she comes next month

Thiem forces a 3rd set with Tommy Paul much to the delight of the crowd in Vienna.

Because it's not remotely unbreakable... the sport hasn't changed to prevent it from happening again, you'd just need another dominant freak athlete to come along. They don't come along often, but they do happen. Hell, if not for bad timing re: the existence of Novak Djokovic and some injury misfortune Nadal himself would have at least a few more.
Unbreakable records are things like Dave Schultz's 473 PIMs in a season, or Ken Doraty scoring a hat trick for the Leafs with all 3 goals coming in overtime, or in tennis I guess the match length of Isner / Mahut now that there's a fifth set tiebreak in all majors. I guess Gretzky's points record could be considered unbreakable because the game has changed such that you'd have to be a top tier, MVP caliber offensive superstar for over 20 years to even come close.

Oh man, Thiem somehow pulls out a match that Tommy Paul should have won. 8-6 in the 3rd set tie-break.

Meanwhile in Basel, Ruud just gifted a break to Stan who just needs to hold serve to advance at the Swiss Indoors tourney.
Edit: Stan the Man advances in Basel delighting the fans as much as Dominic did in Vienna earlier today, One-handed backhands rule lol

Last night in Mexico, the Canadian ladies went 1-1. Genie lost her match, but Leylah prevailed over Elizabeth Mandlik who is an up-and-coming American. She's the daughter of former WTA touring pro Hana Mandlikova.
