The disaster is not getting a starting goalie.
It can be Markstrom. It can be Holtby.
It can’t be neither. Neither is a fireable offense - Brad was never going to have a better look at two supremely qualified UFA goalies in their early 30s.
If he whiffs on both, he’s incapable of solving this issue.

It would have to be a 1A, 1B situation due to his injury concerns.
I'd rather have him on a deadline deal, as protection in case your starter goes down. He could really help you in the playoffs.

With the Oilers signing a bunch of stuff I have to think the Flames are just finalizing Markstroms contract.
I dont think the Oilers were ever an option for him.
