Ryan Johansen as a #1 RW for the Flames would be amazing. Treliving would have to turn from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White in order to pull it off without sacrificing comparable aged players.

The thing that's tough to read when players like this potentially come available for trade is these comments:
"It would be great if we could land _______ on the Flames, but only if we can doing without giving up (--- anything we have that would be of value ---)."
It immediately invites the response "So you're saying it would be nice if we could trade our garbage for him"
to which the original commenter inevitably says "That's what I mean, I don't think we should be giving up what it would take to land him"
Why not just start by saying we shouldn't trade for him? Mind bottling.

When was the last time a star player was traded for another star?
Kessel was a collection of picks and prospects
Hamilton for mid 1st and 2 mid seconds
Saad for Amisinov and prospects
Seguin for Eriksson and prospects
Phaneuf for garbage
The only 2 hockey trades I can think of with big name players was Kane and Bogosian for Myers, Stafford, picks/prospects and Hossa for Heatley over a decade ago.
If Johansen is traded it is unlikely going to be for a comparable star player. Similar to the Hamonic situation. Teams will want a comparable one for one but it is clear Haminic wants out of the Island and there have been issues with Johansen for years. Likely those teams will have to accept picks/prospects/lesser NHLers. Both Johansen and Hamonic trades likely happen in the offseason so teams can maximize the market

@EricEngels: I know Kassian and Scrivens have been mentioned. I haven't been told names but was told these two teams have something going.

Everyone is saying Scrivens for Kassian but I'm hoping we see Treliving come out of no where again and trade Hiller.

Unless he gets some playing time and somehow rediscovers his game I think we're stuck with Hiller until the end of the season.

Chicago waives Runblad who was the key piece in the Turris trade to Ottawa. Also the player the Sens traded the Tarasenko pick to acquire. Like Erixon he was a hyped Swedish Dman that never figured it out.
Doubtful anyone puts in a claim but you never know

Gotta think Columbus puts the claim in on Runblad. RHD, 25, RFA, 1.05. I'd be surprised if he wasn't claimed. Even Edmonton seems likely.

5 years ago, if you had Rundblad and Erixon in your organization you would have considered to have a very bright future on the blue line.

In a sense, the Flames have the modern equivalent with Kylington and Anderson, hopefully they develop differently then those two.

True but both Flames prospects were 2nd rounders where Runblad and Erixon were 1st rounders.
What is interesting as well is both Erixon and Runblad had value through multiple trades before flaming out.
Flames traded an unsigned are Erixon for 2 2nd rounders and a decent prospect. He was then the key prospect the Rangers gave up in the Nash deal along with secondary players. Can't remember his path from there other than going to the Hawks I believe then being claimed by the Leafs and traded to Pitt in the Kessell deal
Runblad was traded by the Blues for a 1st then drafted Tarasenko. The Sens then packaged Runblad with a 2nd to get Turris. If I am not mistaken the Hawks gave up a 2nd to get Runblad as well.

Agree...Chi fans feel that this is the first in a couple of moves, to make space, also the 'Hawks finally moved Kruger to LTIR...one rumored name coming to Chi is Huberdeau, in a deal with good old Uncle Dale.
I feel that this is a very weak rumor, myself, just reporting speculation among Chi fans.

Yeah I heard it was Dano going the other way to Either FLA for Huberdeau or to ARZ for Boedker.

It would be hilarious if Florida traded Huberdeau. Talk about rebuilding the rebuild after rebuilding the last rebuild. Or is it just easier to call it a 15 year rebuild?
