Speaking of, Huska got this team to drastically overperform.

So a few more than just Wolf.
Huska hard them over perform?

Only things left to cheer for is an Oilers 0-4 exit and Columbus bouncing the Habs.

Why do they continue to employ that clown? No one likes him, and no one cares what he has to say.

Kinda sucks but hopefully they can build the team further next year. This teams offence needs a major major overhaul.

Appreciate the over achievement though!

Sharangovich's late season mini streak shouldn't cover up the biggest flop this season on the team.
His is the scoring we needed much earlier. Would've been nice to have options. Kirkland injury and Mantha injury especially took those depth options away.

Scoring was the issue as we knew it would be. Defense was very solid considering the manpower employed, and goalies played well above expectation.

That's my point.

This roster was a bottom 5 roster coming into the season. My only hope as a Flames fan is that Conroy isn't blinded by this insanely lucky season (by many measures) and tries to add in the offseason/continues to try and retool versus what he should really do, which is continue the solid rebuild with the amazing amateur scouting staff he is rather than trying to sign guys like Rasmus to ridiculous, very likely bad-long-term-contracts (i.e. Lindholm, Zadorov, Hanifin, arguably Sharangovich, etc.).

He's seen the results of his trades and trusting him amateur staff vs his results of trying to re-sign pros.

The amateur staff is clearly the leading part of the organization, and that's the way it should continue imo

Oh well. Good season. Waaaaaay better than I was expecting. Looks like they have built the right culture. Many young players took steps.

Definite move in the right direction.

You'd have to think so.

Parekh and Suniev to make their NHL debuts, and probably a few guys getting a call up from the Wranglers.

Agreed.

Much more team support later on, but Wolf had to be sharp for stretches even in most of their good games.

I think the workload for his rookie season exceeded what was ideal for Dustin, hence why you saw the late game slips from him.

I don't think you should worry about Conroy going all nilly willy signing a bunch of free agents. He is going to stick to his plan.

He's going to have a lot of cap space to work with. I hope he uses it to get some of the young guys locked up long-term.

If you trade Wolf with the Sharks goalies, we switch places in the standings.

He absolutely should win the Calder. One of the best rookie seasons I have ever seen.

Sad ending to an unexpectedly fun and exciting season...gotta rememeber...they found a way to keep in it until the second-last game of the year...that's AMAZING...and regardless of what you think management could've, should've or would've done in different circumstances...THE FLAMES GAVE US A HELLUVA RIDE!

Give credit where due...this team, once it found itself, had a TON of heart and drive. That's fantastic as a fan...and those who really are true fans of the team should be happy.

(And yes, I wish they'd gone further...you can't always get what you want.)
