Probably for the best. I wouldn't want to see him try and twist this into Isaiah and his family being the wrongdoers again.

I couldn’t even imagine how heartbreaking it would be to have someone that tormented you for years pretend to want to be friends so they can have the chance to make millions of dollars. I can’t imagine how gutting it must be for him to see people all over the internet defend his tormentor.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but even though I may have done some stupid things at 13-14, none of the things I did were pathologically evil. At 14 people know the difference between evil and good. We aren’t talking about a 4 year old here. A stupid mistake at 14 are things like breaking a window or copying your friends homework. This dude was just straight up evil. And now with millions of dollars on the line he is putting his victim through further torment.
I’m absolutely amazed that it’s the attacker that is getting the benefit of the doubt by many, it is mind blowing.

….and now reading on twitter that there are swarms of people that as someone put it “ are trying to out Miller, Miller”. Imagine being contacted by your tormentor every few years because some agent tells him he has to. Then publicly lie about attending educational programs or efforts made. Did Miller and his agent think that Special Hockey would not read this and or say “hey, wait a minute”. The things this dip#### is doing are beyond stupidity right up to this very day. This is just beyond ####ed up.

Thanks for responding, I legitimately meant no offence. I think you’re a solid poster but didn’t see much effort on your part to touch on the topic so didn’t see why you’d care how much I did. It’s all good.
Only because you’re being less charitable with your interpretation of my comment than you are with a racist bully. Pretty weird. No comment on the letter from Isaiah?

Thanks. I appreciate that.
All good!

Oh, that was super not directed at you. Directed at the second chances at all costs crowd. I could see how that was unclear.

If the breaking news had been - Mitch Miller, from an early age right through to the age of fourteen would spend his days torturing the neighbours cat - Odds are the guy is ostracized as a psycho. Yet his abuse when directed at a human being is being marginalized. That's straight ####ed.

It wil” be interesting to watch what happened the next time a young player with a checkered past is available. Do teams take a pass on him as perhaps he is not wanted by the guys currently in the room?
Is there a chance for a player with a checkered past to make a recovery, or will they be done.
Maybe this player is an extreme example, but hopefully other kids are paying attention and some are rethinking their lives and the position they are currently in

this might be the thing I dislike most about society .. there is more empathy for a cat because it's universally viewed as a cute and cuddly animal while people with disabilities generally possess less inherent worth to the public eye when comparable stories of abuse surface .. the case involving the animal always sparks more outrage and passion in people
our lack of basic respect or compassion for people who have to battle life long disadvantages they had no say over just to live on a level playing field as their fellow man/woman is truly astounding . we quietly alienate these people for being "broken" or "different" rather than celebrate or protect them just as we would our friends and family
that is heartbreaking to me

What Miller deserves is not $750,000. He deserves to get his ass kicked. Are you kidding me? That statement by Isaiah is awful / gut wrenching. At 14 you are not some little innocent lamb with no clue about what’s right or wrong or what bullying is or that you probably shouldn’t be a racist #### face and call people the N word. What a piece of ####. I watch all these kids get a cup of coffee in the NHL get drafted, do all this insane work and never get a sniff at an NHL contract. Not a chance this jackass deserves to be anywhere near a NHL team.

I hope there is some solace for Isaiah that his assailant is being outed as the human piece of garbage that he appears to be.
Shame on the Bruins here really. I haven’t read everything but if they are claiming an excuse of new information coming to light, Bettman should just fine the organization a $1 million and have the money go towards programs that support victims of abuse. Or really they should just do that themselves.

On one hand, it's so sad to see that sports teams are really just in it to win it (which isn't shocking I suppose, but we should be better). But what does give me hope is that the community at large and even players spoke out against this very swiftly and vehemently.
As someone that is a person of colour that has experienced his fair share of bullying when I was a kid because of the size of my eyes, the color of my skin, the lunches I brought to school etc., I can say that even as an adult, these are issues I'm dealing with and mine wasn't even systemic bullying by one person over and over. I can't even imagine what Isaiah has gone through, is going through and will continue to go through.
I might offend some here, but the reality is that we should be better as a society. I believe in second chances as much as the next person, but, second chances need to be earned. They're not handed out just because you're good at your vocation. I can tell you that if it came out that I systematically bullied someone for years when I was a kid, no matter how good I was at my job, I'd get fired and this reputation would follow me around.
It just sucks really bad that it sounds like the bully is going to still get his his payday because the NHLPA will need to fight his termination because the Bruins weren't better. It just shocks me that an organization that ostracized Tyler Seguin because he partied too hard (which is, in my opinion, significantly less egregious) could then turn around and do this.
I do hope that we do start to see real change though in professional sport, it should not be a win at all costs mentality, we've evolved as a society and we should be better than that.

I can only imagine the Bruins watched the Canadiens sign Mailloux with very little drama around it, and figured they could do the same with Miller, given his crimes were longer ago.
Oops.

If you took half the effort you spend on evaluating posters like myself or Jiri and writing these meaningless, ineffective “I know what you are but what am I” posts and instead spent it on empathy for the victim or an honest evaluation of Miller’s bullying and actions since, you might find less of a disconnect between the way people receive your contributions and your perception of their value. Right now, nobody is struggling to process anything you’re bringing to the conversation, promise.
Or keep commenting on tapatalk signatures and googling anything bad you can find about the victim and his family. What profound nuance. Sad we’ll be missing it.
