Not calling you a liar, I'm just not sure I believe that. My understanding is Bruce asked for a long extension and it went nowhere past the original one year option for this season. That screams a GM wanting to get his own guy, but riding this out for now because ownership said too

That doesn't totally jive with Rutherford saying in his post-game comments after the Sabres game that he thought Boudreau's contract was only one year.

I suppose he could have been consulting with the team and suggested Boudreau and then been surprised by the length of the contract, but that speaks to some pretty serious miscommunication going on in the office.
