And Kassian is arguably our best natural winger. Him getting suspended doesn't help the Oilers in any meaningful way when we're in the midst of a tight playoff race.

Good grief. I don't usually even mind Staples that much but this is pure propaganda.
Someone needs to send him highlights of Kassian and Neal's histories.
I wonder if Tree also hasn't had a conversation with the league about this. They set the precedent earlier this year with Lucic getting suspended for two games for one punch with a glove on. Kassian tossed at least 9 into Chucky's head. Simple math (which, sorry Zack - we can explain that to you later...or at least try to) would have that at 18 games, plus of course some bare-knuckle multiplier.
After what Looch got for his tap of Zadorov we know it has to be more than 2. I am guessing 4.

I told him his argument had several holes including Lucic had his gloves on, was face to face with Zadorov and didn’t try to punch him in the back of the head repeatedly while slamming him to the ice. I’m hoping the suspension is lengthy.

Lucic didn't get suspended for the Zadorov punch. He got suspended for punching a Blue Jacket (Sherwood).

I just feel the need to point out that the patron saint of the NHL, Zack Kassian, is far from this delicate flower the Oilers are making him out to be. He’s been suspended for 5 games for high sticking now teammate Sam Gagne. He was suspended 3 games for boarding Brendan Dillon. Oh, and he was casually suspended 20(20!!!) games for leaving his feet and obliterating a player in Junior. But keep telling everyone how he plays the game “the right way”...

I do feel like there was a good job to swap the narrative around whether intentionally or incidentally by the media. It now feels like Tkachuk is expected to "answer the bell" for his "dangerous" hits. But realistically, Kassian should be the one to have to answer the bell for going after the Flames literal-all-star player with a goon move. Lucic should be challenging him to a fight to start the game and that should have been the end of it. Except for the perpetual whining that is the Oilers organization. Now something needs to be done to Tkachuk.
Flames should use it to their advantage, piss off the Oilers by not allowing Tkachuk to engage and just draw penalties like he did last game.
