I missed a lot over the week end. When did things go south again? I thought it was getting better since the Hiway patrol and state police had been brought in. Really curious how people expect law enforcement to deal with this situation.

Its a tough situation, because the majority of those coming out to the "protest" are not coming to protest, they're coming for a riot/confrontation.

Most protests do not go into the wee hours of the morning, every night. Generally rioters and looters are the ones who are out at this hour

^That is an assumption, not a fact. It'd be better with some actual evidence that the majority are there to riot/confront and not the belief that that's what is happening.

We can just hope they do not shoot anymore people for being black while in public. I think 2 shootings in under 2 months in the USA by the cops for this crime are more than enough. It appears they are very concerned about the number of people being black while in public as evidenced by their escalating public enforcement action.

Four unarmed black men in the last month alone.

Geez 4, that is awful. I think most white Americans were either fine or benignly ignorant to the previous penalties for BWIP (racial profiling, increase likelihood of unneccessary search and seizure etc.) but I think the escalating penalty system up to the death penalty is way to high of a price to pay for BWIP.

How many unarmed white guys have been shot? Serious question, not trying to bait.

EDIT: A quick google search shows such numbers don't exist.

Just a guess...probably zero.

Yeah the closest I saw was a huffington post article that talked about 8.7 percent of police killings involved white males.

If that number is anywhere close to accurate, it doesn't paint a very rosy picture for visible minorities in the US. America is 72% white, so that means 91.3% of police killings involve minority groups that represent only 28% of the population.

[Edit]
Just re-read your post and noted that it was 8.7% involving white males, not all whites. That means the percentage will be slightly off, but I don't imagine white females make up a very large number of police killings, so it's likely still pretty close.

There is this one that happened last week (a day or 2 after Mike Brown) in Salt Lake City. He was shot while pulling up his pants. But he was white, so it didn't get very much attention.

Another unarmed white guy shot and killed by police in the last few days. Take from it what you will. It's clearly not just a black problem.
