If Iran is the country that has or will have pounds of fissable material then shouldn’t Iran be the target? You can eliminate Hamas but with money it’s relatively easy to find and indoctrinate people to carry out the strike once they have weapons.

Destroying Hamas does not protect Israel from the Dirty Bomb scenario. Mutually assured destruction does. Iran won’t supply its proxy’s with Nukes because it knows it gets wiped out were a Nuke to go off in Israel with or without evidence that they supplied it.
