You know you’ve made shi11y decisions when you’ve changed the name to that stupid letter that shall not be named (one of many stupid decisions) and people still refer to it as Twitter. Also that your daughter turns her back on you and gives up any chance of an inheritance.
Threads kind of faded after the initial launch, but each of these changes Musk makes combined with usability improvements on Threads is going to give Threads momentum. If Musk goes forward with requiring a paid subscription for read access, that will shift the critical mass over.

Bluesky is pretty nice. Filling that twitter gap quite nicely, and small enough I don't feel like I'm missing a lot by only checking it on my PC. Nice to not doom scroll on the phone.
“I honestly don’t understand why X is targeting porn content on this site when there is dangerous misinformation, racism and bigotry freely flowing from this site,” she said. “You would think targeting consenting adult nude content would be the last thing X should be doing.”
Heard they were going to charge $1 for new users if they want to tweet, retweet, etc.
Honestly not the worst idea in the world, might actually stop some of the bots. Not the malicious ones that actually make money or spread disinfo, but some.
An Australian regulator has fined Elon Musk's social media platform X A$610,500 ($386,000) for failing to cooperate with a probe into anti-child abuse practices, a blow to a company that has struggled to keep advertisers amid complaints it is going soft on moderating content.
If people are willing to spend money for companies to spin up fake follower counts for their social media presence, what makes anyone think these same companies won't be willing to pay $1 for a bot to continue their spam and misinformation campaigns?
I'm not in love with the idea of giving twitter my credit card info.

I'm not giving the UCP my credit card info either!
Too late. Her party is already wasting your money on ads to other provinces about energy prices that don't affect them, failed pipeline projects, war rooms, fights with Netflix about Bigfoot, and the biggest Cabinet in Alberta history.
I'd give her $5 for some mouthwash though. All that hot air must cause serious bad breath. She looks like she could use a swish.

It would be nice if Albertans could get an accounting of exactly how many of our tax dollars are spent trying to convince us our intuitions and acceptance of facts are wrong, and that we should just shut up and trust them.
