You can do it if you had gamepass ultimate in the past as long as its now expired...might have to pay $16 instead of $1 though.
Is that confirmed? I read that even if you let Gamepass Ultimate expire and then load up 3 years of Xbox Gold, it will only convert to 3 or 4 months of Gamepass Ultimate

I never played the first either. The visual style is kind of jarring at first as it looks and feels like a pixar cartoon. Takes a bit of time to get into the controls but it's definitely a unique 3rd person platformer.

I just did it for 2 years so it worked for me

let ultimate expire
bought 2 Xbox live gold from Amazon and redeemed
Converted all to ultimate but it didn't offer me the $1 deal I had to pay $16.99 to convert.

So $134.99 for 2 years ultimate or $5.60/month

Mine was similar, but I actually got my 2nd round of Ultimate for $1 the 2nd time.

The only difference with mine is that when I went for round 2, I bought 2 years of Gold and then instead of paying the upgrade by creditcard, I used my MS points balance to 'pay' for it. Only cost me $1. Somehow it went through and I was able to upgrade.

I started playing Ghost of Tsushima over the weekend. Pros... Really great combat system with the stances (I haven't got the last one yet), very pretty in 4k60fps (makes you want to book a trip), acting and sound are both solid if not spectacular. Gear upgrade systems and loot are rewarding so far. Obviously there are some sidequests like finding fox dens that are a bit mechanical but most of the sidequests for actual people are solid, which I appreciate. Standoffs are cool though we'll have to see if they wear out their welcome by the end of the game.

Stealth... I'm a bit torn. It seems okay, but I don't know if I like it as much as the very similar system in Horizon, and there do seem to be a few frustrating issues where you don't feel very stealthy when Jin does things you don't actually want him to do leading to detection, or when you get seen in situations when you shouldn't according to what the rules are supposed to be. But it's not bad, I just think it could be better.

Cons, first, the enemies so far are a bit too same-samey - I get that the combat system is rock-paper-scissors-esque with the stances but that doesn't mean you can't have some enemy types that don't fit clearly into a category. It's just some variety of sword-guy, shield-guy, spear-guy, big-guy and I'd like them to feel more like people and less like mannequins. Second, some of the quest design is frustratingly bad - "search this area"... okay... for what? I've been running around this forest for 15 minutes looking for "spirits", when what I'm really looking for is a text prompt to move the quest forward. It's happened two or three times and it really damages the immersion. Third, and this is more minor, it's fine if there's only one main weapon type, but I would have thought there would be more armors - you can see how many there are right off the bat and it's pretty limited which is surprising. Maybe some people care more about the vanity stuff than I do, I don't know. But between that and the limited enemy type issue I would have thought that the "directors cut" would have provided a bit more variety, even in the base game, just so that things stay interesting to motivate the player to do all the open world stuff like investigating all the question marks.

It’s sort of silly, but I find myself getting excited about the Diablo 2 resurrected coming later this month. I love me some hack and slash dungeon crawling. I remember being in the original beta test for the game way back when.

Been playing Train Sim World 2 on Gamepass. Once you figure out how to turn the damn train on properly and starting moving/stopping, it's actually a pretty fun game. Never really got into any of the "Sim" games, but I'm really enjoying this one. Having been to Germany recently, the Deutsche Bahn levels are really fun. Good nostalgia leaving the drivers seat and walking around the train cars on the various German trains and seeing how familiar they look.

You will find out before the halfway mark of the game that it unfortunately gets extremely repetitive. To me it got repetitive faster than even AC games. I finished the game but more because of the great story than the gameplay.

Not for everyone, but new Tales game out on Friday. Right now it's the highest reviewed entry in the series. Looks like a big step forward.

Damn I was probably gonna wait on Tales expecting the usual 75-79 review average but with a high 80's I gotta check it out day one.

This really looks good - I've never played a Tales game but am interested to try it out (once I wrap up DQ11)

They've ranged all over the place from "just okay" to "pretty good."

I was pretty into the series until Xillia 2 which was a cheap cash-in sequel. A few years later they did Zestiria which I thought was mediocre and turned me off the series so I skipped Berseria (which I heard good things about). It's taken quite a few years off now and Arise looks like it got quite the budget bump. Excited to check it out now with these excellent reviews.

I am way more excited for more of PS5's remake generation:

Pretty solid showing, lots to get excited about as a gamer in the next couple months and years.

That's gotta be Kraven doing the voiceover in the Spidey trailer, right?

I know it is the original Candyman voicing venom, which is cool.

Ryan Hurst (Opie from Sons of Anarchy and Beta from The Walking Dead) is doing Thor's voice in Ragnarok.

I attempted a KOTOR replay a few months ago but it hasn't aged well at all. Very excited to play it again with modern mechanics, hopefully it does well enough to warrant a KOTOR2 remake as well

I'm hoping so too - if they can properly finish KOTOR2 with modern visuals and mechanics - it's going to be amazing.
