If you make a dumb comment people will call you out on it.
It’s not irrational.
There we go, finally.

If they can keep bouncing it off the boards and off the goalie and into the net they should be ok.

I am old enough to remember folks ripping on Brayden Point and the terrible job he did as captain of Team Canada. Fun times. Sometimes it is just fun to cheer on teenagers representing their country.

People aren't cheering against the players.
They are cheering against the organization/management and brain dead coach.

These kids didn't pick themselves, and they sure as hell aren't going to say "no thanks" when they get picked. Now they're in the tourney, living out a dream they had since they can remember, representing their country and trying to do the whole nation proud.
If you're a Canadian and cheering against them, I just don't get it.

Im far from being a Dave Cameron fan but the fact this team has given up 2 goals against in 9 periods and 1 overtime is pretty insane.
Haye on em all you want for selections, but thus far its looking pretty good.
USA game will be telling.

They are cheering for the kids to lose to demonstrate a point against the people who picked the kids. Makes total sense that they are clearly not cheering against the Canadian kids, they just want them to lose.

They have played no one.
They have been favored by 6 or more goals in every game, and lost 1 game and barely won the other.

If they were favoured by 6 goals against the Finns how bad does that make the American performance today?

It's the team that he wanted, not the most offensively talented but more of a responsible defensive team of 200 ft players. And so far it's worked with no even strength goals against.
I think most people's worry is that will it be enough when you get to US, Sweden, and Czech Republic.
It did work against Finland already but Carter George was also great in that game.

Thank goodness we have the elders to pass on the oral histories of nine years ago, lest they be forgotten to the ages. .

Just want to point out, they beat both Sweden and the Czechs in the pre tourney games. I know it's pre tourney, but both teams are trying to win in those.

Who else were they supposed to play?
I don't know what their game will translate too against the US or Sweden but right now, this team was clearly built as a 200' grind em down group and it has worked....that much is pretty hard to dispute when your starting G hasn't given up a goal in 2 games.
I would think that "fans" would want to see that continue because in order to win...it has to.
It reminds me a bit of the Olympic club that went to Sochi. Only scored 14 goals in 5 games (6 in one against Austria) barely beat Latvia, barely beat Norway and then won the semi 1-0 against the US.
Yet, that was one of the most stifling/dominantly defensive clubs ever assembled anywhere....never felt like they were in trouble because they only surrendered 3 goals against in those 5 games.
There are different ways to win. One just isn't as sexy as the others.
