I’d be ok with 4 years for Flames. Trade him if he only sign for 2 or 3 imo

Flames need time to recover from Johnny leaving. I don’t want to see the team starting to turn corner when he’s a pending UFA

That's true.

And I have 0 doubt he will acknowledge Calgary within 24 hours of being moved.

Draft native swedes, finns and Canadians only from this point forward!
This is going to be very common place going forward. The NHL will become more like the NBA, with stars moving around. Let's also keep in mind that the players aren't holding out and staying Russia. They are fulfilling their RFA requirements in full, and then choosing to go back to their home areas as UFAs.

And drafting Gaudreau in the 4th round, and then getting 8 good years out of him is a win.

No I think Coronato sticks here through his ELC. There will be all the room in the world for him to play up the line up and garner the interest of American teams.

yeah I never expected we'd run into these kind of problems with Americans who've been on the team for such a long time. I mean, we already got burned by Fox, but all things considered that was still an outlier. Now obviously people will be antsy with regards to Coronato, who, to be fair, has done nothing but say the right things since being drafted.

I don't know what the answer is. Obviously you could just draft more Canadiens and Euros, but even the trusting the Swedish mafia isn't foolproof (see Erixon, Tom).

Yup, but I have never seen that verified anywhere. What does Columbus have to offer hahaha

Honestly mindblowing that more american players don't see Calgary as second home material.

Literally nominated most livable city in North America.

But ok, go back to your air polluted, densely populated, gun violence riddled place of origin without a mountain or decent sized hill.

The US is a much better place to live if you are NHL level rich. Calgary is a pretty boring town for rich people

Losing Gaudreau and still trying to compete is one thing, but this organization would by colossally stupid to try and compete sans Gaudreau AND Tkachuk.

I don't see how that is likely at all. Bad for both sides.

Ugh, get it over with and trade Tkachuk. Lets build a new core.
Get an impact centre for once and build from there.

Might be a smart move to get Mangi arbitration and long term contract locked in. Then deal with either a long/very short term move for Tkachuk. I think with this, we'll find out if Tkachuk will want to be here or GTFO next year. Flames is like a Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul series!

Steinberg thinks Chucky's gone too. I think we all need to prepare to be extremely underwhelmed by the return.

It's not like Canada had way stiffer rules than many states did. If that's what makes them freak out and go home then they don't have what it takes to win a cup anyway.
