I expect that Johnny will be good this year, but his biggest problem in getting lots of points is likely the lack of a great PP GB to help getting PP points.

It's tough to have a huge year without getting a lot of PP points.

His teams win but they don't score a lot.
Gaudreau killed it at the the end of last year, with Sutter as the coach. In preseason the plan looks it is to maximize Gaudreau's output. Plus this year Gaudreau has the physical backup. No one is slashing his hands or bullying him.

I see big things from him.

He didn't have much scoring in SJ, but still had players like Nolan, Marleau and Selanne at the end.

These players all had good seasons under him but I think it's a fair point that Sutter isn't likely to create a positive outlier season for a point producer.

Kopitar and Iginla for example had their best offensive seasons, stats wise, under different coaches. Although Roenick had his career high in points playing for Darryl a long time ago.
One of these things is not like the others...

Lol - that takes me back. EA NHL 98 Tony Amonte was my go to player in games with buddies. Could always count on 4 point night from Tony.

Tony Amonte scored 30+ goals eight different times.

Yup, when scoring goals was a little easier.

But he is not in the same class as the other guys in that post.

Amonte had some of his most productive years during the dead puck era. A time where goals per game were amongst the lowest in league history.

From 1995-2000, Amonte scored 31, 41, 31, 44, 43, and 35 goals.

It wasn’t easy to score between 1995-2000.

You’re too focused on how he played for the Flames. Amonte had over 400 career goals. He was a great goal scorer.

I doubt it. why would they keep it secret? I see way more benefit to shouting it from the rooftops to all potential ticket and merch buyers.

Lebrun had an article in the Athletic. Says the Flames and Johnny have been working on a deal and he doesn’t suspect Lewis Gross the agent will cut off talks during the season and he thinks the Flames and Johnny still want to work out an extension
