I don't think it's fear of Theo, so much as not wanting to be the focus of all the media talk about, "The first one to wear it..." I mean who wants either the hassle or all the attention of their NHL debut centred around that?

I can just imagine how Theo would act on social media and mainstream media.

As a young player, yes I would fear the backlash and just choose #41

No one fears him. They likely fear the distraction that would come with wearing #14. Media, Theo and fans would likely make it a "thing" and most players just want to play, win and make money.

That’s why I think they should just arbitrarily limit numbers for a few seasons until somebody is forced to take it. A player’s not going to be stigmatized that way, and then once the number has been back in circulation for a while, nobody is going to care about it’s association with Fleury.

People wouldn't be afraid of Theo the individual. They would be worried about the absolute ####storm these right-wing lunatics are able to drum up through their unstable followers.

If Chris Sky can motivate his people to harass and send death threats to AHS and toy stores I'm sure Theo Fleury's group wouldn't have a second thought to do the same to some NHL player.

They deserve each other. The photo of them together was taken inside a house. Twitter discussion on whether this violates her bail conditions.

She’s supposed to stay off of social media. I don’t know if Theo tweeting a pic of them together violates her conditions.

I would be shocked if it does. I think she's a ####heel and I hope she sees significant jail time but that is such a low bar to constitute a breech of conditions that even I'd be opposed to it.

I agree, but this possibility is dominating the tweet threads I was reading. Some people are speculating that a judge may consider this a breach of her conditions; I don't think it does.

She's appealing the conditions but those are the ones being reported by right-wing media, though I assume them to be correct.

Had Fleury posted a message to accompany the photo, I could see where it becomes grey or even insinuated that Lich wanted him to post the photo. But just Fleury posting a photo seems decidedly white. (Probably better phrasing there lol)

They are doing a hockey heroes thing here in my town and I was asked to come play on a team with Theo.

I politely declined. The thought of having to listen to his BS in the dressing room made me annoyed just thinking about it.

A business partner wanted to bring Fleury in as a keynote speaker for a conference we’re considering. Nothing has been decided but if he wants to use Theo I’ve decided that I don’t want to share a stage with the guy and will not take part. My friend isn’t on social media and hates it so when I tell him what the guy is like he dismisses it because Theo is a hero for him; they’ve spent hours on the phone talking hockey. He likes Theo but he doesn’t know that he’s a lunatic.

I started this discussion. I don’t follow Theo but someone I follow retweeted him so it showed up for me.

Really don't know the story behind the non-retirement on #14. For a guy who's schtick is reeling off a constant litany of grievances (perceived, real and imaginary) he's been pretty mum on it.

I'm sure the organization has at least broached the subject as they do interact on alumni events from time to time.
