They are called Sun Dogs. Really cool thing to see. It also means you need to move to a place with a warmer climate.

I had forgotten this phenomena... I remember being so excited once, as a kid, seeing them while visiting the grandparents in Medicine Hat.

It just blows my mind how selfish some people here are. Like they are entitled to hockey, and players should all just go in for their entertainment. Way to be a compassionate individual.
This literally has nothing to do about hockey for me.

I'm of the view, that if you're called for duty, you show up. I don't give a #### whether that duty is playing hockey, doing open heart surgery or working at mcdonalds. We all have a role to play in this world. If the 75 year old doctor in Italy can come out of retirement to literally put his life at risk to work on the front lines of Covid (and then die on those front lines), we can all figure out a way to do our own duties.

I've worked through the pandemic because I was asked to and I'm essential. I certainly don't need the cash. I did it because "we're all in this together".

Do you feel better after that back pat?

But yes, I do agree in a way. I think we have a duty to bring our gifts to society/the world, whatever they may be. Because it's what we are good at/passionate about that makes the world better, and thats the point of doing it.

If some people use covid as an opportunity to bow out of things that were a waste of their potential or not serving them in some way then that's an exception I can understand and get behind.

Are you also the parent of a kid with respiratory issues?
The most essential role Hamonic has is as a dad.
Just a terrible take lacking empathy and understanding

I mean I guess, if you think the most important role he has on the planet is procreating.

I'm with gullfloss. Ive gone to work the last 4 months for other people. If people don't give two ####s about essential services laying their life on the line, guess what. I don't care about millionaires playing hockey.

He is not a doctor, playing hockey is insignificant and i agree that his role as a dad is the most important.

if anything, the NHL is setting a bad example in all of this, heck, kids are now playing hockey without any sort of protocol. Its absurd to think you can tell a 13 year old to maintain social distance, and this will not end well.

It astonishes me that people cannot seem to grasp the fundamental differences between going to work to provide essential services, and going to work to play a game.

He is ALREADY a dad. Once he assumed that responsibility it became primary.

God, you sound like a petulant child. Not one of us is entitled to be entertained, so if Hamonic chooses not to perform, then so be it.

I guess sometimes people just gotta pat themselves on the back, even when it's the weirdest time to do so. Congrats?

Why ask that?

You already stated you wont go to work if you have any risk involved in your work place.

Stop your bashing of essential workers! If we stopped doing our jobs you would die.

You refuse to work, its a choice. You have money. I have money too and I choose to work.

I go to work and help thousands of people in their daily life. You have an attitude about that!

You have an issue that I will take some small risks to help thousands of people out?

Do you ever wear a mask? Damn it it is the least you could do for the rest of us.

You refuse to work because you have money.

I have money and continue to work because I can help people.

Ask me what I do for a living! I make hand sanitizing stations for stores that are having issues buying them. Making medical face shields for front line workers. Working on solar projects for Alberta to go green.

I have money and could refuse the work. I take a risk doing this work.

Yet you are telling me I should not take this risk because I have money?

Stop your bashing of essential service workers. Say thank you instead.

What are you doing? Absolutely nothing according to you! Just rude comments. Telling all essential service workers how we are not needed.

You speak about privilege. How much money do you have to have to not care about the rest of society? You seem to have enuff now!

I will go to work and try to help others. Feel free to stay home. Do nothing and complain about everyone feeding you and making sure you can get your groceries.

Thank you for your help!

What the hell?
Seriously what?
You okay?
Covid brain?

I'm an "Essential" worker too. Still doesn't change the fact that hockey is a kids game being played by men and is NOT essential. Where the hell is the disrespect you're talking about here? Nowhere, thats where. Non existent.

This is officially the strangest timeline. Not the darkest, but definitely the most absurd.

Edit: and you wanna know something? You probably don't but Im gonna type it anyways.

Every time ... and I mean every single time I hear "Essential worker" , my brain immediately flashes to the one armed old man shoveling snow in the movie Schindlers list. Wanna know why? Because thats how I feel about being essential. One smarmy joke away and a luger bullet to the brain. Essential =expendable. Quite the the take eh?

Anywho, carry on with the essential worker jihad.

This is almost as good as the "assaulting a fish" rant but, while I give this an A for misunderstanding (assaulting a fish was A+), you only get about a B for delivery. Was hoping for more a more chaotic take.

I still laughed. These posts from you always make my day.

This is BS. I have a son who has asthma and I was scared for him when COVID-19 became a pandemic and a reality in Calgary back in late Feburary. When the case was reported in the main floor of the Suncor building and hundreds of people walked through the building on that day, including me, I felt pretty upset at the stupid parents for putting their child in the daycare knowing that they just came back from a vacation abroad. When I heard the news, I decided to stay home the very next day. Why do you want to risk affecting your own family, especially if you know that your child has a respiratory symptoms which can fatal if you're infected with this corona virus variant? You views are of a single younger person who may not have a need to care for anyone else but yourself. For some frontline workers, like those of the meat packers, they need to work to make ends meet. Yeah, we're in it all together, but you don't need to be an ass about it.
