Dare to dream.

His age fits the current core perfectly, and like you say that changes the now and the off season considerably.

Step one ... just keep it going.
Step two ... be the .915 guy or better, all they need is NHL average goaltending

Step three ... lightning in a bottle

What I liked was the Cruikshank article on the Athletic that had Singalet talking about how he changed last year when Smith went down. Wasn't as calm and fun loving. Thinks he'll be more prepared for that next time.

Maybe McDavid should have fought Chucky, our best guy against their best guy. That seems more fair.

What happened to the dude that did those awesome Edmonton sun like write ups after Coiler games? There could be a sweet one for last nights tilt. I still have a smile from ear to ear after last nights game!

The guys that wrote articles like this for example. Glen Gulutzan (2-8 all time BOA record) said " I told Mcdavid to go high blocker on Ritter on that last face off play, but of course I didnt expect Lindholm to win the faceoff against Drai, we had worked on that set play in practice with great success previously!"

Default Flames come back to beat the Coilers 4-2

In the link above to the Jim Matheson column, it said Tkachuk was in concussion protocol because of Draisatl. I imagine if he fought with Kassian they'd probably put him back in it was pretty smart to avoid it. But even smarter to suckers them into a ton of penalties.

Matheson also said the McDavid wasn't available to the media after the game. What's with that?

He had to name drop Sather of course because the Rangers were there scouting the game. I imagine they're checking to see what other garbage they could fleece from the Oilers.

Matheson on the first period Backlund/McDavid run in ...

Quote:
In between, McDavid got drilled into the boards by his shadow Mikael Backlund and Backlund grabbed McDavid around the neck as they tumbled to the ice. McDavid got a rough ride from Bennett, at times, too. Lucic rode shotgun with McDavid and Draisaitl from the first period on like Dave Semenko and Gretzky. “Little more physicality and little more meat on that line and around the blue-paint for Looch,” said McLellan.
Didn't McDavid have Backlund's neck?

Another interesting item is Hamonic has become a shooting machine the last handful of games.

You’re forgetting that in the No-Good World Order, facts are subjective.

Had a look at the season stats and the Frolik-Ryan-Neal combination wasn't used until last night.

Only one period to look at but you have to wonder if that's how they configure the third line when they take the ice against Vegas.

It was Thisisanoutrage. He mentioned a new job or something didn't leave much time this season to do those.

Two really great extended shifts in the third for that trio, I think Ryan and Frolik are responsible enough to cover up Neal’s warts and also might finally start getting some assists playing with a legit Gun in Neal. I honestly would send Dube down at this point and call up one of Mangiapane, Graovac or Lazar for fourth line duties to fight for preferably Mangiapane.

Going forward something like:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Bennett
Frolik - Ryan - Neal
Mangiapane - Jankowski - Czarnik
Hathaway

Dube sent down, Mangiapane called up

McDavid had backlund in a headlock, and attempted a fairly dangerous tackle.

McDavid deserved everything he got by getting piled on there.

On the topic of coaching and player deployment, I didn't realize who was on the ice for the empty net goal until watching the highlights this morning.

Lindholm, Ryan, Gaudreau
Hamonic, Giordano.

3 right handers on their strong side.

Ryan in case Lindholm gets thrown out of the faceoff circle makes sense. But I love seeing Hamonic out there as well. Having Hamonic on his strong side allows him to make that great little tap play up to Lindholm for the empty netter.

Its nice to have the options to deploy in those situations, and a coach who knows how to do it.

Honorable mention to Gio with 18. Gio leads all flames with a +/- of +8.

I am excited about this team.
You are right about everything except Gio is not leading in +/-..

Hard to imagine after the last couple of years but the +/- leader is Brodie

Is there videos of the many altercations between Chucky et al and Backlund et al?

Loved seeing so much emotion, fights, hits, scrums and chirping! That's what the BOA is all about.

How about that stat that Lucic has 2 goals in his last 60+ games? I thought that was shocking. I had no idea his offence had dried up that much. I knew he was struggling but that is jaw droppingly bad.

Lindholm is such a smart player and really a treat to watch. Not a lot of weaknesses in his game.

Felt like Johnny deserved a goal today, he was flying around all night making some Oilers players look absolutely foolish. That hit from behind was egregious too, and I heard one of the commentators say that Johnny turned into the boards, that's BS because I have seen that called a penalty a hundred times. I also think he is a little banged up from that cross check he took to the ribs against a team I can't remember at the moment, maybe Chicago?
