I always have a template of Hitler rage on Sony Vegas Pro just in case. Started making one as soon as the Bennett goal was waved off but then Johnny tied it. Maybe I should finish it...

Not sure there's anything new here, but might still be interesting. All of this is Friedman:
“I didn’t like the Hamilton (trade)….I knew the Bruins felt that Edmonton was going to offer sheet Hamilton. And they really felt trapped. And it (the trade) was a move they had to make right away. So I understand how that happens.
“But I thought the process of the way they did it — and to me it was very similar to the way they traded Joe Thornton, like nobody knew… I was at the draft and when the Dougie Hamilton trade was coming down, and it was early and some of the teams were starting to roll in, one executive from a team came up to me and said, ‘I just saw your Twitter. Is it true that Dougie Hamilton is getting traded to Caglary?’ And I pointed, because (Flames GM) Brad Treliving was standing out there on his cell phone, I said, ‘There he is on the trade call.’ And he was furious. He was like, ‘We didn’t know.’ And he found out it was for draft picks and he was upset. Like I think you can look at a lot of the other moves the Bruins made and say, ‘Those were good moves.’ I liked the Lucic deal. But I think the Hamilton one, and they felt they were under the gun, I wonder if somewhere down the road they’ll say, ‘I think there’s a different way we could have handled it.'”
No kidding. That reads to me like 'I suck at my job, have no idea about the market, and sleep in on draft day.' I'm glad our gm gets things done rather than pouts to insiders.
I remember Sather crying the blues after we acquired Tonelli because he didn't know Tonelli was available. From what I've seen, the truth is GMs have a circle of friends that they like to deal with and it's good to know that Treliving has a good relationship with some of the other GMs.

I still can't believe this trade happened. One sure way to accelerate a rebuild is completely fleece another team of one of the best young players in the game at his position (which happened to be the position we needed the most)

Plus it's even sweeter knowing how badly Edmonton wanted him haha.

I think it's safe to say that the Flames have the best defense in the entire league now. I don't think we're quite on the same level as the Anaheim's and Chicago's, but we're damned near close now. I think we're very comparable to teams like Nashville, St.Louis, and a resurgent LA Kings. I expect no less than a 2nd or 3rd round appearance next season. 2017 is the year that we'll become a legit contender.

FYP for you otherwise the whole thing would've been arsed backwards and contradictory in of itself.

LA's blue line isn't as deep as it once was. They had to overplay Doughty and that's not a good thing. Couldn't keep Sekera after the season.
Chicago
Calgary, Nashville
St. Louis
LA
Minnesota
is how I'd rank the top blue lines in the west. However that doesn't account for team defense, where I think St Louis is near the top if not the top. How frustrating that team is to play and score against. The whole team is committed to a sound defensive system and has the size to make life difficult. The Flames may have the soon to be best D-corps in development right now, but our system doesn't focus around the defensive side of the game, but utilizing the defense as extra forwards in offensive situations, so of course our goals against isn't and probably still won't be tops in the west this season. But it's damn impressive, none the less. Come playoffs, adding a potential top pairing of Gio-Hamilton to the fold will allow us to put a real fight to teams like Anaheim/Chicago/St.Louis.
